Purbeck Shepherd Huts

The location in Worth Matravers was superb! We loved sitting under the stars at night and watching the night sky. And we just love the pub across the road, The Square compass. We’ve been to many shepherds Huts while the decor wasn’t as sharp as some, the storage was great. Perfect for longer stays and you don’t have to live around your stuff.

The mattress in Winspit was not comfortable (chapmans was fine) depending on personal taste. Poor communication with owners leading up to the holiday. Thank you to the review advising on bringing camping chairs!

Well organised space and very private even though there is another hut next to it. Great location and quiet even though it is next to a car park and across from the pub. Has everything you need to BBQ or make something simple.

Make sure you have specific directions before you arrive as there is no phone or internet signal around there. Could be improved with some more comfortable outdooor chairs - fortunately we had brought our camping chairs.

The Shepherds Hut was absolutely gorgeous. Tastefully and thoughtfully appointed with nice touches like milk in the fridge and a complementary bottle of wine on arrival. The bathroom was clean and had a great shower. The hut had its own private garden with table and chairs and a BBQ. The weather was super hot, but a large hedge next to the garden gave us welcome shady spots. Lying in bed looking out the window to the sea in the distance was the icing on the cake.

We didnt receive our checking in info email so had to try and find the place using just the address. The huts are very hidden and there is no sign on the narrow road so its not easy to find. Once we found the house, we were greeted warmly and shown where to go so no harm done. Parking is in a nearby public car park...you can unload near the hut in a tight lane but not bring your car to the hut, so don't bring too much stuff with you!! There is an eclectic mix of cutlery and crockery, but with a brilliant pub so near and loads of places to eat and drink locally, self catering beyond making a cup of the complementary filter coffee is unlikely to be on your agenda!
