Lovely stay on a sunny weekend, marred by lack of heating.

The location was stunning, and the property had all the accommodation we needed. The beds were clean and comfortable. There was loads of crockery and cutlery etc.

There were no instructions for the keys, but the back door had been left open. I realised that I was meant to ring the owner before arrival, but I couldn't find the message which had been sent so I didn't have the number. It would have helped if it had been sent to the Booking.com app. The main heating wasn't working and the property was cold when we arrived. The bathroom heating was on a separate circuit and it did come on. Luckily, it was a very warm weekend. I phoned the owner and followed his instructions, but the heating still didn't work. He said he would call the plumber out, but no-one came while we were there. The downstairs dining room was cold and uninviting, but we were able to eat in the living room.

Great place in a fabulous location. Well appointed for family celebration or gathering.

Great location, beautiful countryside and quiet (except for the rain on the velux windows in top rooms when it poured overnight on 2 nights!!). Cottage was unlocked upon arrival, as owner had stated, so easy to access. Comfortable, clean rooms, all ensuite and plenty of fridges, crockery and cutlery for 14. Large comfy sitting room and in basement, dining room. Big garden with outdoor furniture for outdoor eating if weather allows.

Bedside lamps in two top rooms quite hard to turn on and off. Only 6 dishwasher tablets in cupboard so we ran out. Velux blind in one room wouldn't close completely.

A very enjoyable stay

Excellent location. Beautiful views. The house was well heated (a supplement had to be paid for heating) and well furnished. Well equipped kitchen. Ideal for our group of friends but could also be for a family gathering.

Fernlea suits our group so well as it is large but cosy, really clean and simply furnished, perfect location for some good pubs and great walks and bike rides

Lovely relaxing weekend. Just what we wanted.

Loved the house and the tiny hamlet of Acton. Ideal for walking (close to Square and Compasses) and a very comfortable place to stay for a large family group. My husband was thrilled to have an aga to cook on. Very nice to have a bathroom for each bedroom. Good to be relaxed about the dog. It isn't 'posh' but clean and comfortable - just right for us. Would definitely book again.

These are very picky details : It would have been nice to have soap in the bathrooms. My husband needed a potato-masher! Only one dishwasher tablet - we sent out for more but if you want washing up done well it is probably worth investing in a box. Rinse aid also ran out.

Superb

Great location for hikers, bikers who love good pubs and great music. A simply furnished, unfussy house, comfortable and great for a large group.

Didn’t realise that the dining room was downstairs. Not a major issue though.
