About this farm stay rental
Farmhouse, little apartment, Studio.
This Studio is about 35 mq, has a fully equipped kitchenette, a separate double bedroom and a bath with shower.
Outside, in front of the kitchenette the Studio has its own space with table and chairs under a gazebo, where you can eat or relax in the shade.
We have 2 Studios so if you are 4 people you can contact us and ask for renting both units though the 2 units cannot be adjoined!
We are happy to help you if you need a driver or if you are interested in cooking classes or in meal, but please let us know in advance about it because these are services not always available.
Our small organic farm sits on a hill along Lucca’s beautiful northern countryside in the hamlet of Aquilea, with stunning views over the Valdottavo valley, the high peaks of the Apennines, and the National park of Apuan Alps in the distance. We produce our own olive oil, bake our own bread, make jams from our own fruit trees, prepare home-made yoghurt and classic Italian sauce from our own tomatoes, and grow a variety of vegetables.
Our solar powered and beautifully restored farmhouse has 2 comfortable, fully furnished Studios that will feel like home the moment you step inside! Each has its own entry on a lovely terrace where you can relax and enjoy outdoor dining. At our above ground swimming pool and a whirpool where guests can enjoy sunbathing with an incredible view. You can look at the property Homeaway ID 108278 that is where we list the Studio because you can rent just one apartment or you can rent 2 apartments if you are coming with friends or relatives
Our love and respect for the environment can be seen in our organic farm with free-range animals, olive groves, a vegetable garden, and fruit trees. We use solar panels for hot water, to help with the wood boiler heating system.
We chose an above ground, moveable swimming pool because it has less environmental impact. We have two gazebos near the pool with photovoltaic roofs.
Here a car is really necessary.
Driver service: If you don't feel like driving, the owner or one of her relatives can be your driver and guide: they can pick you up at the train station in Lucca or at the airport in Pisa or Florence, bring you to the farmhouse to get settled, help you to visit undiscovered surroundings and Tuscan beautiful towns.
Cooking lessons and catering : You can learn how to make classic Italian dishes in our large country kitchen and enjoy your meal in our lovely dining room. The owner speaks excellent English and is a talented cook. You can choose the menu with her, deciding what you would like for your delightful cooking lesson. If you do not feel like cooking, ( when possible) you can enjoy being catered authentic Tuscan dinners If you do not feel like cooking, you can enjoy being catered authentic Tuscan dinners (a full menu from starter till dessert) for €35 per head with excellent local wine included. If you'd like a lighter menu, for example only a main course and a second course with vegetable the cost can be EUR 25 (no starter, no dessert).
Italian language lessons : We can organize Italian language lessons upon request.

If you want an experience that will provide you with how local residents live in this area, this would be a wonderful opportunity. The farmhouse is quaint, well supplied for making meals, comfortable, and the views are stunning. You can walk to the nearby village and get staples, cheese, fruit, and bread and meet the owners. We highly recommend this experience. Add cooking classes with Lella, and you will learn many Italian techniques in her kitchen.

Our family of 10 spent 9 days at beautiful Abbacca-la. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful or our stay more enjoyable. Transporting us to and from the train station, helping with the rental car--whatever they could do to make the stay perfect for us. The ride up the mountain is not for the faint of heart but worth every minute. Once at the top your greeted with the old world charm of the Italian country side and villa. Our rooms were very comfortable and the outside eating area for our family was wonderful. We cooked pizza in the wood burning pizza oven and took cooking classes: eating all the food we prepared. Although it was very hot while we were there the rooms where always comfortable. There was lots to do in the area. We visited Lucca, Pisa, Cinque terra, the kids went zip lining, the 800 year old bridge Ponte del Diavolo and much more. On our off days we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. A must is a walk down to the village to enjoy all their different kinds of pizzas. The ages of our group were between 13 and 70 and all of us loved and would recommend Abbacca-la to our friends and relative. Pat Gabriele--- Canada

This old farmhouse is up in the mountains with wonderful views. Our host and hostess, Lella and Paulo, could not have been more welcoming and helpful and the accommodation was as described...simple but very comfortable. The added bonuses were a cookery course followed by a lovely relaxed meal in the garden as well the option of ordering a meal to be brought to our terrace any evening. If you like getting away from it all, this is a perfect place to stay, with walks from the house and yet Lucca is only a few miles away.

Our family of seven was looking for a quiet, out of the way location that would give us the sense of living in the Italian countryside after spending our days in the crush of the tourist sites. Lella's property fit the bill. We ended up having to split between the two studio apartments given availability, but even so, it was kind of fun as it encouraged us to spend time outside at the tables provided for each apartment given the tighter quarters. The studios would be fine for smaller parties however. The center apartment has a great view of the canyon and mountains beyond from the bedroom. The furnishings and fixtures are a bit older (but clean), but fit with the character of the old farm house and locale. Getting to the farmhouse is a bit of a drive with some switchback turns, but worth the price of leaving the city behind as you drive through the olive orchards and hillside homes. Probably the biggest plus for our family was the use of the pool. Weather was hot and the refreshment and relaxation it provided the kids from the stress of being dragged around sight-seeing seemed to mend things (along with lots of gelato)! Lella was a considerate and helpful host. We enjoyed the treat she brought over one evening, and our occasional conversations.
