About this apartment rental

Key features:
Stunning apartment with outstanding views Open plan living, dining and kitchen area with 2 large original sash windows with working shutters Glamorous bedroom with 6' double bed with french door to a balcony that overlooks Pulteney Weir and the Beazer Maze Only a few minutes walk to the Abbey and the attractions of Bath Suitable for children 8 years and over.

Johnstone Street is part of the architect Thomas Baldwin's grand late 18th century designs for the Bathwick extension to the city. It is named after William Johnstone who, in 1767 became Sir William Pulteney - reputedly the wealthiest man in Great Britain - and the landowner who created the world famous architectural heritage of the Pulteney Estate.

The apartment has all the lovely historic detail for which Bath is renowned worldwide. There are high ceilings with elaborate decorative cornicing, light pouring from immense sash windows, a grand original decorative marble fireplace, sparkling chandeliers and to the front, views of an elegant Bath stone terrace with the distant vista of wooded hills. To the rear is a peaceful sunny balcony with an extending awning for rain or shine. This balcony is perfect for alfresco drinks or morning coffee while you take in the breath-taking view of the weir.

Boldy decorated with verve in rich deep with paler greys contrasted with flashes of crimson and gold, the apartment blends striking historical detail with contemporary living. The open plan living, dining and kitchen area is framed by two huge arched sash windows, complete with working shutters. Between these is an elegant dining table to seat 4. There are 2 white sofas also seating 4 and a freeview TV on a sideboard containing books and games. The glossy grey fitted kitchen has a quartz stone worktop and includes an induction hob, an oven, a small dishwasher and fridge with freezer compartment. A large traditional alcove cupboard contains a microwave, crockery, cutlery, glassware and a good range of cooking equipment along with recycling crates.

The glamorous bedroom has a sumptuous 6' double bed and impressive floor to ceiling windows with gracious French doors leading onto a stylish balcony overlooking Beazer Maze (a petite labyrinth), Pulteney Weir, and the city glimpsed through the trees. There is a large antique wardrobe with drawers and a dressing table with chair. Flanking the majestic fireplace with its plaster bust of Apollo are two delightful mustard coloured art deco chairs with side tables and lamps. Listening to the murmur of the river Avon, it's hard to believe that you are at the centre of a bustling city and only around the corner from Baths' historic sites, shops, bars and restaurants.

The smartly tiled contemporary bathroom continues the blend of historic and contemporary style. There is a large walk-in shower and a hand-basin mounted on a smart cabinet with storage. Above is an opulent Georgian mirror with a mythical carved ‘Ho-ho' bird. Next is the WC with a deep shelf space for additional toiletries. A separate cupboard within the bathroom has a small washing machine and shelf space for laundry, whilst an alcove cupboard in the entrance lobby contains further utility items.

The property is a 10 minute level walk to the Bath Spa train and coach stations.

Beautifully decorated flat in a prime location. Each morning, we sipped our tea/coffee on our small balcony overlooking the river. Kitchen was well equipped for simple cooking with ingredients we purchased in very nearby waitrose. Flat provided tea, coffee, sugar and milk which was so appreciated, especially on our first morning. Living area was very comfortable. I would highly recommend.

Loved the ‘old world’ look and feel of this place but happily impressed with the modern conveniences and the comfiest of beds. The location is great because you can walk everywhere. Great pub “The Boater” just around the corner with friendly staff and excellent food.Highly recommend.
