"We had the warmest pizza straight from the oven of the attached restaurant. The two fellows looking after the motel did an exceptional job."

Location is perfect, 5 minute walk to the beach. The icecream shop is close by and so is the boardwalk. Close drive to the cup and saucer trail and the misery provincial park.
The room was not clean, the towels were thrown in and the AC made a weird cracking sound during the night and spat out some oil, so we turned it off. But for the price and location we get, these are minor inconveniences. Wouldn't keep us from visiting again.

I was worried reading previous reviews after I had booked a room (#8). After getting into the room, it really wasn't that bad. We brought our own bedsheets and pillows just in case due to previous comments. However, there were no stains on the sheets that were on the bed and the bathroom was clean. In fact, I think some pillows were fairly new. The floor was adequately clean. It is true the front windows are a little dusty and paint peeling from the frame, but you are not sleeping or eating on them. The water was hot when needed for a shower. The TV worked as well as the A/C to which may need some time to figure out the controls. At least they have instructions for the TV, and we were able to watch the FIFA games during down time. Temper your expectations as this is not a 5 star hotel, and they never claim to be. It's dated, but it is a convenient spot near the beach and since they are the only hotel in town, there is no competition so prices will be higher. However, it is a tourist spot so expect that. I have been in worse hotels that claim to be a higher star (4-5) location which was unjustifiable and I'd be too scared to check with a black light. Don't expect room service or clean up while you stay which I actually like. I hate having service coming into the room to clean while we stayed 3 nights with all your possessions out in the open. It is true if you happen to show up after 8:30 just coming from the last ferry of the day, you may have to use the phone number listed on the door to check in. While odd, the gentleman was quick and got us into our room pretty quick with the piece of paper that contained the information needed to get in. The interaction was pleasant. So while I cannot review other rooms, the one we stayed at was fine but not perfect, but what is? If I decide to stay on the Island again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. If you are too picky, you need to find somewhere else to stay.
Wifi was spotty to which our host attempted to fix, but there is something wrong with their starlink setup. I appreciated the attempt. We had data on our phones to which we used instead which was fine. I wasn't staying there for the wifi anyway. I agree, the beds are really hard but when it comes with hotel beds, it becomes Goldilocks syndrome to which some may like it, some may not. I was not one of them. I doubt this will ever change, but not enough curtains at the front entrance of the room. The upper deck windows have no covers, so while trying to sleep, the light from the sun or outdoor lights shines right in. We didn't use the restaurant as we brought our own food, so cannot comment on that.

The location was great, and it was quite.
The restaurant was not open, and it needed better cleaning.
