About this house rental
La Plaine is a house that sleeps 8 people + cot. The house is situated at the top of a small hill, highest point of the village, with stunning views over surrounding valleys, The place is very quiet with closest neighbour at 300 m. Facility includes a heated pool (12x5m) built in 2019 with wooden deck. The house (renovated in 2020) has 4 bedrooms , one bathroom and 2 toilets, one large living room, a kitchen and a TV room. There is plenty of place for kids to run around in a safe environment and also WiFi for those who need to stay connected. La Plaine is ideally situated in one of the best place in France for sightseeing (Sarlat, Domme, Lascaux, Rocamadour), gastronomy (truffle, Foie-Gras, duck Confit) and nature activities (canoeing, walking, cycling), after a long day you can just relax by the pool and play petanque with your friends.
More about La Plaine: The house was built 40 years ago by my grand-father. It is a perigourdine style house. The big terrace facing south is the perfect spot to enjoy your breakfast and dinner by the pool. For the rest of the day you can stay under the old oak tree in front of the house or do some farniente by the swimming pool. The heated swimming pool and the wood deck were built in 2019, there is a remote controlled pool cover and a fence for safety.
Altogether the house can sleep 8 people in 4 bedrooms. Travel cots are available upon request. We also have one proper BBQ.
Convenience: The village of Simeyrols is pretty small, so you will have to drive to Carlux/Saint Julien (5 km) or Salignac (9 km) to find grocery stores, bakery, butchery, gas station, ATM, postal services, pharmacy, family doctors, etc. Sarlat and Souillac are 13 km away where you can find supermarkets, banks, hospitals, cinemas, etc.
La Plaine is at the crossroad of three departments offering stunning touristic spots. The Dordogne (24) with over 1,000 castles, among them Château de Beynac where Richard Lion's Heart spent some time or Château de Castelnaud with its medieval weapons museum (kids love it!) and wonderful medieval cities like Sarlat, Domme, La Roque Gageac, Montpazier and prehistoric caves like Lascaux or Rouffignac. The Lot (46) with places like Rocamadour, Lacave and Padirac cave. The Correze (19) with Collonges La Rouge and Turenne. La Plaine is 6 km away from the Dordogne River where you can rent a canoe and paddle along this wonderful river. There plenty of theme park for children and even a zoo in Calviac (10km).

Overall we had a great stay in this traditional French house. Location is perfect if you are after a quiet getaway in the countryside.Kitchen was good - well stocked with everything we needed. The TV area was upstairs, which was fine - but we didn’t really use it as was not a smart TV and we don’t speak much french. Downstairs is open plan, which we liked, but we spend most of our time outside. Pool is fantastic - great size and heated to take the edge off on cooler days. Loungers were comfortable. Unfortunately, the shade umbrellas were large but not weighted very well - so kept blowing over when there anything more than a very gentle breeze. We just sat under the oak tree instead when we wanted shade, so it was fine. We also loved the amount of outside space - for playing games and relaxing/eating.Thibault was not there in person but was easily contacted by phone/email and was responsive and helpful when we had questions or needed anything sorting. One thing that would have made things easier was to have some written information for the house/area (e.g., the nearest recycling bins, WiFi code, nearest supermarkets, restaurants etc.) We worked out all this stuff in the end, but would have been easier to have some written info.

We had a wonderful 10-day stay in Simeyrols. We are a family of five with three boys aged 7 to 12. The house worked really well for us. The location is ideal, in the hills north of / between Sarlat and Souillac - a really quiet spot, but close enough to local villages and the main towns in the region. Large grounds for our boys to run around and play in. The swimming pool was perfect - a really good size, with a good, solid decked area around it. The house itself is a good size; the kitchen is well designed and well equipped. Thank you, Thibault!

Location pour 10 mais cela devient juste pour le BBQ.
Rajouter un miroir dans quelques unes des chambres serait sympa car avec des adolescentes ...c'est vitale 😆 😂 1 seul ds salle de bain pas suffisant.
Dommage que la B-Box soit installée dans la chambre et la TV à l'étage. Personne de contact reactive. Piscine exceptionnelle. Vacances réussies.

Fantastisch zwembad met mooie ligstoelen. Ook terrasmeubels prima. Goede wasmachine. Schone maar wat hobbelige bedden. Welwillende verhuurder. Overige zaken wat minder. Daar heb ik contact over gehad en ze gaan er mee aan de slag. Omdat de locatie uniek is, het weer fantastisch was en we met een hele fijn groep waren, was het ondanks de wat kritische punten toch een topvakantie
