Handy location, good parking, nice room, spacious and very clean. Nice outdoor area, can imagine it being lovely in warmer weather.
Directions clear and concise received before trip.
No fridge as per details but left stuff in the car as it was a cold night

For a two bed cottage it was no more expensive than a hotel room ! It was so snuggly warm we had to turn the radiators down too.

Very clean, fabulous comfortable bed, great bathroom.
It’s very very hot & we could not find any way to turn off the heating overnight.

Expectations based pictures were high, but expectations based on the very reasonable price worried me that we may have booked a lemon. However, our expectations based on the pictures were well exceeded. A beautifully quirky cottage, seriously pretty, very nicely staged, with a super lux feel made a better than home from home. Whilst we had one Major issue detailed in ‘what didn’t you like’ and one Minor. We would definitely return, and highly recommend. However, if the GDPR issue hasn’t resolved itself upon return, we would absolutely not visit again.
Major: Our booking forms along with the other cottages residents (complete with full names, addresses, and telephone numbers) were left in full public view on top of a piano in the large main entrance hall of the towers, where we were booked to attend an event. Many people were in attendance at the event, and not just the people staying at the cottages. We weren’t told these forms would be there, and we spotted them completely by accident whilst loitering around this area. It was mentioned to a bar staff member on the night, but they were very young, and didn’t seem to grasp the importance of our issue. Our party all felt this data breach was very unprofessional!
Minor: We booked a 2 double bedroom cottage for 2 couples (4 people). Yet living room only had one small 2 seater sofa and a chair, meaning someone had to sit on the floor. There is room for a second 2 seater, or a 3 plus 1. This needs some thought.

Close proximity to Carlton Towers. Very comfortable beds, lovely bathroom
Unfortunately there was no where decent to have an evening meal as The Odddfellows was closed 😕

I hadn't received any information prior to my stay so turned up blind, couldn't find the cottages after driving around in the rain for ages we had to go to carlton towers and walk around 20 mins looking for staff to help us, the rooms themselves are very nicely decorated however the noise from the adjacent coop isnt ideal(teenagers in cars etc) we also hadn't been given any wifi passwords so couldn't use our phones(no 4/5g around here) the beds were 2 singles pushed together so if you like to cuddle your partner its not possible, the shower floor is dangerous, very slippy when wet and no grab railing or anything to grab onto as I found out the hard way when I slipped and hurt myself! I did mention this to the manager next day but nothings being done by the sounds of it as I had a call a few days later to talk about the check in issues & when I mentioned i had hurt my elbow quite badly slipping on the shower floor the lady said no one had told her about it, after reading reviews now it seems its been a problem for a while and being ignored! On going up to the main building the next morning for breakfast we were shocked to see the main doorway floor littered with cigarette ends etc such a shame as its a beautiful place
The bed, the shower floor

There is some noise from the road
We struggled to get the oven hot enough to cook a pizza

Great location with amenities within walking distance. Easy check in with clear instructions given. Big car park. The cottage itself was comfortable, had a mini fridge stocked with water. There as also kettle with tea and coffee. Bathroom was huge! With a nice rainfall shower and a decent sized bath. Rooms were also decent size with comfortable beds and pillows. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!
If I'm being really picky, then only downside was tbe bathroom being downstairs. This meant going down in the middle of the night if you needed toilet which was not a problem for me but not ideal for my pregnant wife. A small kitchen would have been nice too so we could wash cups etc but we had to do this in bathroom. This is really minor though and we would still definitely stay here again with no hesitation.

We attended a wedding at the weekend and checked in at 3pm, when we went to our cottage to drop the bags off a couple of hours later there was no key in the key safe. We then had to walk back to reception, get given a key, to then walk back again (bear in mind the cottages aren’t close to the main hall), when we finally got in there were already someone else’s bags there. We then had to walk back and raise this with the staff. We had taken a good hour out of the wedding walking back and forth by this point. Staff then approached us in the evening and told us we had to go back to the cottage, pack up and remove our belongings and take them to another cottage. Really poorly organised and left us missing a lot of the celebrations going back and forth

Good facilities and nice furnishings.
Windows could have had a clean. Looked a bit unloved from the outside as if maintenance was a bit behind.

The tv has no signal and can’t be linked up to a device of your own which is pretty poor these days, it’s very noisy due to been on the Main Street , other properties are better for less noise,

Lovely room with walk in shower spotlessly clean, pillows and bed were very comfortable
Would have liked more milk.
The main issue we had was the room was so hot we had to leave the window open so 6:30am Sunday morning we could hear the beeping of the truck delivering to the Co Op next door, not the owner's fault though.

Beautifully designed cottage, the decor and quality were exceptional, especially for the price.
The beds were beautiful, large, comfy, and fresh feeling.
It is a little tired. The living room carpet, sofa and chair, and the overhead shower need a good deep clean. The scuffs on the walls would benefit from a scrub too. However, the place has originally been renovated to a really top, beautiful standard, and l would still definitely recommend it.

This was one of the best accommodations I have ever stayed in.
It was clean and fresh and the decor was very tasteful.
If I ever require accommodation in the area, I will book Carlton Towers in a heart beat.

Great location to visit York and our friends in the area
The tea spoons needed a good clean but didn’t spoil anything I just washed them myself

Gorgeous little cottage. Big comfy bed. Great location (we attended a wedding at Carlton Towers). Loved the tea room the morning after. Enjoyed exploring the grounds.
There are a few parts which could have been cleaner (mainly the bathroom, surfaces and carpet). It was by no means dirty, but would benefit from a thorough deep clean.

Been here quite a few times given it’s close to relatives.
We know what to expect eg no breakfast facilities etc
Noisy construction work immediately adjacent where new Coop store being built. Even when finished this will change the whole dynamic of the accommodation

it was all lovely

Beautiful room/small cottage in a row of very tastefully refurbished buildings. Very comfy bed, stylish bathroom, good access and car parking.
(Close by Little Black Dog Brewery and Taproom also excellent.)
Didn't engage with any staff at all or have any food so can't comment.
We were attending a wedding reception in the main hall, the path between the accommodation and the towers surely needs at least some basic lighting, the walk through the woods after dark will not suit all!

The room we had, had no catering facilities so we went out to The Peppered Pig which is close by for an evening meal and breakfast next day

very poor for the money
we had a very poor experience the light outside was
broken and kept flashing through the window all through
the night and woke us up 4 or 5 times and the in the morning
went to use the milk provided and was out of date so had
to go to the local shop and buy some more … the staff
told me that feedback would be given back to the staff looking
after the buildings but would have expected more back from
them for such a poor experience

absolutely immaculate throughout. The cottages are so cute and quirky.
we booked 2 cottages but it wasn’t clear or explained to us that we’d be in cottages around 4 mins walk from each other. sounds minor but the group felt so split. up.
