Amazing, we will be back and for a much longer stay

Truthfully, we didn't want to leave, even booked an extra night and still wished we could have stayed longer. Sasha aka Alexander, Zorica and Veselin went above and beyond for us. Zorica's cooking was everything we needed and then some, she can't be anything but her wonderful giving self with 'Mumma or Grandmother' sized portions and everything is homemade and homegrown and so tasty, the best food we ate in Montenegro. Veselin, catches fresh fish every morning at 4:30am for the evenings dinner, tends to their vegetable garden and their bee hives; my sister asked if she could help and they kitted her up to make sure she was safe. He also walked us down to the water, setting us up for a day of kayaking/paddle boards. Even though Sasha was working his "9-5" in the day he was always available on WhatsApp when we needed to ask any questions as Zorcia and Veselin have limited English and us no Montenegrin (i.e just hvala). Truly they are the most hospitable family and welcomed us with literal with open arms. Highly recommend staying here and for more than 2 nights if possible. We will be back.

Great place

A great place to stay in a lovely area. We paid for a tour on the lake which we loved. It was 100euro for 2 hours which was a lot of money for us, but this is a good price as it was just the 2 of us. It was an excellent boat trip and we saw lots and learnt a lot too! We also ate there and enjoyed the meals we had. The terrace, although small was lovely to sit our on.

The beauty of Montenegro

Alexander and his family are super hosts! Unfortunately I got sick during the night and they offered me every support: medicine, the, camomille. They are lovely. Moreover, the location is worth the visit. I didn't know Montenegro could hide such beauty. They also offer the possibility to have lunch, dinner and breakfast there with fresh products. Super recommend :)

It’s a magical place… the warmest welcome from Alex and his family, fantastic food, amazing location, we loved it all. A little peace of heaven, hard to get back to civilisation after that fantastic break. This was an amazing experience. The family were so lovely and it felt like spending time with our own family, as we were looked after so well. The food was incredible!! We also had a lovely volunteer worker that showed us little hidden gems of the town.

Go here, it is amazing!!

Everything was amazing here!!! Alexander and his parents are the most welcoming and warm people you could wish for. We stayed here for two nights, but we could have easily stayed a whole week. Alex is very enthusiastic and loved showing us everything around the house (their own vegetable garden, their fruit trees, the beehives). The room is very basic but clean, with AC and a fridge. So it has everything you need. Alex's dad catches fish every day, which his mom can then prepare for you for dinner. It is one of the best meals we have ever had! And you get an overwhelming amount of food. Then a nice dessert and some homemade lemonade if you want. You are not left to desire anything else here! We also rented a boat with them and we had the most amazing time exploring Skadar lake.

The only small point of notice is that the bathroom is shared with 4 rooms (both shower and toilet in the same space), so it is occupied quite often and you will have to wait before you can go. (It is kept very clean though!!)

Hidden family-run gem along the stream

This is a small village right on a stream that leads to the beautiful Lake Skadar and while the village itself seems to have been through shifting circumstances, Lotus House really is a hidden gem, it has a very homely atmosphere and while not really a restaurant as such, it became one for the guests that were there during our staying and we had amazing local food and wine, all from local produce. It seemed like a little community of travellers. The stream is super fun for kids and there is a great “beach bar” alongside of it.

Heartwarming guesthouse

Our stay has been an incredible experience. The whole family welcomes you with open arms, kindness and generosity. We had homemade organic dinner and breakfast at the place and would highly recommend to you to do the same. They also offer their own wine and honey. Since it was my friends birthday we had a licqour together and they even gave her a little gift. We also did a boat tour with them, which was another highlight of our stay. They take you to the best spots of the lake, which aren’t too crowded. There is also a swimming spot 2 minutes by foot from the house. We would highly recommend staying here and only regret to not have been able to stay longer.

An exceptional stay with an incredible family in the best location. Don't hesitate to book!

We have stayed in accommodation around the world and I can say this is one of the best! We felt totally at home from the moment we arrived with Alexander and his wonderful family, who are friendly, funny and the perfect hosts! His Mother makes incredible food, don't bother eating anywhere else you will be well fed! The location is absolutely breath-taking, we went out with Alexander on his boat and it was one of the most memorable parts of our stay. We even went back to visit on our last day before our flight and were welcomed with open arms. Don't hesitate to stay here!

The best place in Montenegro

It was an incredible experience! The host family is really nice, kind and incredibly welcoming, they made us feel at home! The meals were delicious as well! The house is nice, really clean and just five minutes walk from the lake. The location is fantastic, the panorama will take your breath away! Giving 10 as a grade is not enough, they would deserve more... We hope to come back really soon !

Superb

Sasha and his family are friendly and available. We had a fantastic time in Dodosi! The landscape on the lake is superb and we had the chance to do a boat tour with Sasha, that has shown us good spot to swim and wild animals. Breakfast and dinner are available on place and have huge portion for fantastic quality. Thank you!

Everything: - The hospitality of the host family is exceptional, they make you feel at home and try homemade specialties (most things are grown locally in their own garden!). Special thank you to Sanja and Alexander (hope I spelled the names correctly). - The location is breathtaking! Situated in a large valley within the Skadar Lake ecosystem, nature is one of a kind and ideal for hiking, fishing etc. It is really very remote! - The house itself has four large rooms, with comfortable beds and TVs and it is really easy to unwind there. The bathroom needs to be shared but that shouldn't cause any problems. There is a large sitting area to eat/drink/chat downstairs.

Travelers should be aware that Dodosi is NOT a place that's easily accessible and that in order to get there one needs to take a very narrow dirtroad which requires solid driving skill and good nerves :)

Unexpected paradise

Every place has a catch, they said. But now I'm a believer that that is not the case. Passing by Domoši on a big roadtrip, we didn't expect much. But the place itself is stunningly beautiful, the hosts have an inspiringly positive attitude and are happy to share their self-made food, wine and much more. We visited so many places in the Balkans and few have stayed in our mind as well as this magical stay. I mean, they cook better than all the chefs of Dubrovnik and charge half the price, that alone was just awesome.

The road to the village is very narrow and hard to navigate, but that's just how it is.

A stay that makes you fall in love with the people of Montenegro!

This is more than a normal accommodation! The lovely family of the house is so warmhearted, welcoming, open, and engaging. Especially for me as a solo traveler, this was the best start into my Montenegro adventure as possible, because I felt so integrated and cared for. They explained me everything about the small village and they are so passionate about their life there. And it's such a remote, peaceful and quiet place! From the room perspective: super clean, comfortable, beautiful views... Nothing more to ask for! I hope to be back very soon :)

The only right choice in the Skadar Lake area!

Loved absolutely everything! Staying at this house is an experience itself. Run by exceptionally warm, kind and welcoming family. We could get a proper taste of locals' lives, dive into their daily routine and habits. Aleksandr and his parents are the best hosts we could meet in Montenegro. We had nice talks, amazing turkish style coffee, tasted grapes growing over our heads on the terrace, tried delicious homemade food, degustated domestic wines and rakija, took an incredible cruise in a wooden boat on the lake and simply spent an amazing time! It's the best choice for staying in the Skadar Lake area!

Cozy village house in the valley near the Skadarsko lake. You will get a mountain view and the most friendly host family. Alexander thank you for your hospitality it was terrific. FOOD Everyone who reads this, please try the food at this location. We spent seven days in Montegero and ate in different places from Tivat (Roberto More) to North Mountains (Mustuluk restaurant) but the food in the host apartment beats all of them. Thanks, Alexander, your mother, and your father one more time. Хвала!

The area has outstanding natural beauty and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable however the thing that really makes this place rise above is the kind hearted and welcoming family that run it, the son is passionate about the town and happy to inform you about its great history and surroundings and the father and mother make you feel as if you are in the company of your own family,, felt at home from the minute we arrived I couldn't recommend this place more and the food is good enough to make you want to change your plans and stay forever!! Spectacular location and wonderful hosts.

We stayed for 1 night at the end of a two week stay in Montenegro. The location on the lake is spectacular and beautiful and the host made us ( A family with 3 adult children) feel part of his own family. I recommend eating here. We had locally caught carp from the lake cooked by the mother of the house. Probably the best meal we had in Montenegro!! The three rooms were clean and well equipped with great views. If you are driving by car you will need to come before 6pm as the mountain road is closed after that as it not lit. This is not a made-up road so it can be slow progress as its 6.5km from the main highway. There is another road (track is a better description) out by the river which goes through some very pretty scenery. This if anything added to our visit. Boat trips etc are all available here.

We had a great stay here. Make sure you have google maps or equivalent on your phone as the car we hired didn't have a great Sat Nav and didn't recognise the location. We used the phone so make sure you have a mobile data plan. Montenegro is not in Europe of course.

Great people, great place.

We loved this place!!! Nicest family I ever meet, we already miss them. Open and friendly for all guests. Food was delicious, room was very nice, house is located in beautiful and quiet area, lot to do there. We were there with our 2 little dogs which were also very welcome.Thank you for great time at Lotus House.
