We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They have a free shuttle to the Echigo-Yuzawa station which was very helpful.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Takinoyu (Echigo-Yuzawa Onsen), even if it was just for one night — it was absolutely worth it.
We booked quite late, so it was a bit pricey for us, but after the stay we truly felt that the experience justified the cost. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They do speak English, but we personally preferred using Google Translate for questions, especially since most written instructions and information are in Japanese — which was not a problem at all.
The location is very convenient, close to the station and near a 7-Eleven, which made everything easy.
Our room was very spacious, beautifully maintained, and had a very nice view. We were provided with yukatas, which made the experience feel authentic and special. We were also given free access to the private onsen, which we really appreciated. The only additional charge was a small bathing tax, which was very reasonable.
Breakfast was excellent — very oishii! One of the most memorable moments was in the morning when an elderly gentleman warmly greeted us on our way to the dining area. He served us tea and had a short, friendly conversation with us. We are not sure, but he may have been the owner — it made the experience feel very personal and heartfelt.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this ryokan to anyone visiting Echigo-Yuzawa.
To the staff of Takinoyu, Thank you very much for the wonderful hospitality during our stay. Even though we stayed for only one night, it was a truly memorable and meaningful experience for us. We will always remember your hospitality and hope to visit again in the future.
