Serena Khaplu Palace is, without doubt, a place that stays with you. The quiet mountains, the old palace walls, the calmness of Khaplu, all of it creates an atmosphere that feels almost timeless. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the heritage charm of the property adds a warmth you don’t find in modern hotels. But alongside this beauty, our stay also carried a few disappointments, the kind that matter when you choose a Serena property and pay Serena prices. The room had character, but the cleanliness and maintenance were not at the level expected. The carpet was so dusty and stained that walking barefoot didn’t feel comfortable. This isn’t a small oversight; it affects how “at home” a guest feels. And when similar concerns appear in other guest reviews, it becomes clear that this is a recurring issue, not an isolated one. Some basic amenities listed on Agoda, like a mini bar, kettle, and tea setup, simply weren’t there. We had to request the kettle separately. These may be small things, but they matter because they shape the guest’s first impression. When a hotel advertises certain facilities, guests naturally expect them to be present without follow‑up. There were brief electricity interruptions too. They lasted only a minute or two, and perhaps this is normal for the region, but guests should be informed. Another Agoda reviewer also mentioned power issues, so this seems to be part of the overall experience. One issue that genuinely affected comfort was the crack in the center of the room door. It was small, but large enough for someone outside to see inside. We had to tape it ourselves for privacy. This is something that needs immediate attention. The TV was outdated and didn’t match the standard of a premium hotel. Guests may not come to Khaplu for television, but outdated equipment still affects the overall feel of the room. Despite these concerns, the palace itself remains magical. The staff were polite, the environment peaceful, and the heritage experience memorable. Public reviews also consistently praise the staff and the unique setting — and rightly so. Overall: Serena Khaplu Palace is a beautiful heritage stay with a soul, but it needs stronger attention to cleanliness, maintenance, privacy, and accuracy of listed amenities. The Serena brand carries high expectations, and while the location and staff shine, the room experience fell short of what it could have been. Bottom line: A special place with kind people and a beautiful setting, but the rooms need care to match the magic of the palace.

Nice play to stay in Khaplu. The hotel is good and you get the feeling of staying in a palace but the best thing is the staff. very very nice and cooperative. The chef Kazim is extremely nice person as he served us very well. If in khaplu then this is the best place to stay
