    Pezula Nature Retreat Review The review is really in two parts. Hotel & Rooms: The property itself is wonderful. The location is absolutely fantastic, and the layout of the entire resort is beautifully designed, making the most of the surrounding nature. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the setting is truly special. Knysna and the surrounding Garden Route are also incredible destinations, which made the trip even more enjoyable. Staff & Management: Unfortunately, this is where the experience fell well below expectations. The staff, and particularly the breakfast team, made us feel like we were staying in a two-star hotel rather than a luxury retreat. The service lacked warmth, professionalism and attention to detail throughout our stay. There were several disappointing examples. Our water bottles were refilled with water that did not taste fresh, and despite repeated reminders, our hot tub was never properly prepared for use. We visited during the low winter season, and the resort certainly did not feel busy, making these service lapses even harder to understand. What made this particularly disappointing was that this stay formed part of a larger journey across the Western Cape. Everywhere else we travelled—from Cape Town to Hermanus and Franschhoek—we experienced exceptional hospitality, with genuinely warm, attentive service that made our trip so memorable. Against that backdrop, the experience at Pezula was a real let-down. The property has so much potential, but the current staff and management are letting it down. We had been really looking forward to staying here, and while the hotel itself is beautiful, the overall service means we would likely choose one of the many other excellent options in the Knysna area on our next visit.
