Microtel by Wyndham Baguio

Good location if you want to be near the city proper. Also, the next-door Amare pizza place is good. Facilities are basic, staff is okay, good value for money.

Great place to stay. A little bit far to burnham park but is walkable if capable.

It's on good location and it's been my third time.

My wife and I are still recovering from an upper respiratory illness caused by how dusty the air conditioner filter was in our room. Every night at approximately 2:30am, some nut on a super loud motorcycle drove by and woke us up. There are no amenities (pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, roof top terrace) and the breakfast buffet is horrible. The only reason I would ever stay here again is because of the location and staff. It is very nearby SM Baguio mall and it’s right next to the victory liner bus terminal. There is also a Jollibee and 7-Eleven a 2min walk away. The overwhelming kindness and professionalism of the staff is the only thing this place has got going for it. Other than that it’s pretty bad. When we asked for our room to be cleaned, it was cleaned exceptionally well — however the air conditioner filter was so dirty it caused us both sore throats and runny noses for the entire duration of our stay. Enjoying breakfast while battling flies and a dude blasting this super loud ear-piercingly annoying whistle the entire time in the victory liner parking lot backing up buses was enough to make me not want to eat there. That being said, the coffee is amazing! The buffet always included fish heads or some weird fish dish which made the rest of the dishes smell and taste like fish too. No thanks! Not sure what’s going on with the eggs, which is why I always had my eggs made to order. Basically I ate peanut butter and banana on toast or eggs on toast and coffee. There are no sugar free options and this can be challenging for diabetics. A few glasses of super sweet juice puts average people over the daily limit. Its surprising that the breakfast buffet is so bad because it’s connected to a pizza place. Also shocking considering this place carries the Wyndham brand name. It’s also unfortunate there is no pool or gym. One of the main reasons I chose Microtel was because breakfast was included but it’s pretty bad. We ended up eating elsewhere for the majority of our stay. I was also very disappointed at the tv situation. The World Cup was virtually not televised and the selection of channels was pretty bad. One channel played 80s/90s movies like Commando and Terminator 2 but the rest is just news and very old Filipino movies. Thankfully I brought my IPTV box from home, but the hotel WiFi is so slow that I tethered it to my phone which meant I had to pay for an international roaming pass with my home carrier. Once again let me clarify, the staff are amazing. If it wasn’t for their kindness, we would’ve gone somewhere else after the first few days even though my entire three week booking would’ve been lost as it is non-refundable. Yes, sadly it’s that bad. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, we will not be staying here again. I expected far more from a Wyndham property. Wow! With a few tweaks, this place could be amazing! I would be happy to offer more suggestions.
