Overall, our stay at the Mandarin Hotel was pleasant with some notable highlights and a few disappointing moments. The hotel itself is luxurious and well-maintained, offering a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation. The rooms were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, providing a comfortable retreat after a long day of exploring the city. However, our experience was marred by a few service issues that could have been handled better. One of the receptionists, unfortunately, did not handle our room change request with the expected courtesy. While we understand that our request couldn't be accommodated, the response could have been more tactful and accommodating. Another area of concern was the language proficiency of some staff members. It was clear that not all staff were fluent in English, which sometimes made communication challenging. For a hotel of this caliber, basic English language skills among staff should be a priority to ensure smooth guest interactions. One particular incident highlighted this language barrier issue. When we were leaving the hotel, the doorman asked about our car reservation. We confirmed that our pre-booked car was on its way. However, despite this confirmation, there was confusion, and our luggage was loaded into a different vehicle. This misunderstanding led to an additional payment for another car service, as the doorman misunderstood our arrangement and couldn't effectively communicate in English. Additionally, we opted to experience the hammam treatment at the hotel spa, expecting an authentic Turkish hammam experience. Unfortunately, the treatment fell short of expectations. The staff, though courteous, seemed unfamiliar with the proper techniques of a traditional Turkish hammam. Instead, it felt more like a basic scrub session rather than an immersive cultural experience. In conclusion, while the Mandarin Hotel offers a luxurious stay with beautiful accommodations, there are areas where improvements in service and staff training, particularly in communication skills and spa treatments, would greatly enhance the overall guest experience.
