    Great hotel especially if you have early hospital appointments. Food in evenings is a limited menu but still nice choice. The twice I’ve stayed I’ve had the pizza and is delicious. James the F&B manager is so helpful and nothing g is any trouble.

    Having stayed earlier this month with service as expected, regrettably on this visit there were a number of issues, some niggly, one serious. Having checked in at 3:05pm I found both room keys did not work. A trip back down to reception and the keys were reprogrammed. Not a good start. Once back in the room I decided to make a cup of coffee as I had travelled some 75 miles for a reunion in the city centre that evening. The water supply within the room had been turned off. Another trip to reception was required. I left the room to find there was a plumbing engineer working on an exposed service duct panel at the end of the corridor. He confirmed the water supply to the whole hotel had been shut off so that water valves on floors 2 and 4 could be replaced as a planned maintenance operation. This was not mentioned when I checked in. I explained to the plumbing engineer I needed to have both a shave and a shower, and wanted to use the toilet before I left in 2 hours time. He confirmed works would be complete within the hour and water would be back on. It wasn't, and still wasn't back on when I left 2 hours later. I reported my displeasure to reception and made one simple suggestion. For planned maintenance works such as these. why not carry out the works overnight when demand for a water supply would be low and consequential disruption to the guests kept to a minimum. Health and Safety compliance in respect of sanitation would also not be compromised. Water supply was back on when I returned at 11:00pm. The shower in this room (unlike my previous stay), was challenging to say the least. It took almost 5 minutes to get it to work effectively. Went for a cooked breakfast the next morning. The top hotplate at the grill was unclean, having scrambled egg residue on it. I assumed it hadn't washed properly in the dishwasher, and hadn't been picked up by staff when they stacked the serving plates. On checking out I had to validate my car parking ticket. Despite the parking charge being noted as £5, I was told it would cost £7. I explained given the water supply issue alone I was not prepared to pay any car parking charge. This was accepted. In summary an extremely disappointing experience .
