I usually stay with he Hilton family of hotels when I travel so I booked a couple nights at Hotel Theo while in town for a family event.
The location is great for tourists. Close to all the touristy attractions. Walkable and easy to move around the city. I felt the hotel would be more enjoyable for l actual tourists or people visiting without a vehicle. There is only valet parking, which is $45 daily (I was told $49 for my large SUV). So that adds up. Also, the deposit for the hotel is $*** per night which I found to be expensive given the hotel itself.
The staff is exceptional, the day shift staff was a lot of fun, easy to talk to heard some test recommendations being given (I’m a native so did not need any myself) and they are very knowledgeable about whatever you may be looking for in the area. Night staff seemed a bit more serious but still very professional, attentive and helpful.
The restaurant attached to the Hotel (Lyons Corner) is really good. You get a voucher to the restaurant (I think it was $10 a day), very good. I recommend the Cajun Charcuterie board. Very delicious. Had a few drinks that were very good.
The room / hotel itself left a lot to be desired. The room was A LOT smaller than expected and there isn’t much of a noise buffer between the rooms and the hallway. We were located right next to the elevators and across from the ice machine, so it was constant noice, not to mention our room was also on the street side. Thankfully we were not expecting much sleep anyway as we were enjoying the city.
For the hotel to be located in one of the food capitals of the world, to not have a microwave and fridge in the room is absurd. I want to say we had to discard of a good $***+ of food because we could not keep it fresh in the room and would not be able to eat it later if we wanted to. I asked the front desk and there is not even a commmunal microwave to be used. That is a major issue in a location such as New Orleans. To bring your appetite and eat all of your food if you plan to stay here.
Our room phone did not work, so I spent a lot of time in the elevator having to go up and down to the front desk. The TV’s are out dated. Not smart TV’s and no guide to scroll through. So if you want to watch some TV, patience and time are a must.
I personally would not stay at Hotel Theo again as a native visitor but I think much better suited for tourists to the city.
