We stayed at Hotel Dover in Milan for one night in a double room. The location was not bad; while not exceptional due to the 20-minute tram ride from Milano Centrale train station, the Milan Duomo and other attractions were within walking distance, which was convenient. The hotel is quite small and lacks an elevator. We stayed on the second floor, which was manageable, but for those on higher floors with lots of luggage, climbing the stairs could be challenging. The staff was generally nice, and the gentleman at the night reception was particularly friendly. The 24-hour reception was convenient. The rooms are somewhat old-fashioned, requiring a key to open. Each time we went out, we had to hand over the key to the reception, which was unusual. The room was small but manageable, with a comfy bed and okay pillows. It had AC, so the conditions were good. There was a cupboard and dresser, but the curtains did not fully cover the windows, allowing some light to come in at night. This didn’t bother us much as we were tired, but it might be an issue for light-sensitive sleepers. Overall, the room was okay. The bathroom, however, was very small. The shower area was cramped, with barely enough space to turn around. This seems to be a common design flaw in Italian hotels we have experienced. In this particular bathroom, the sink and bidet drain plugs were so tight they were practically glued shut, causing water to collect without draining. As a result, we had to use the shower for everything. We didn’t report this issue because we were staying only one night and were too tired to deal with it. City tax is not included in the hotel price, so be prepared to pay this upon checkout. The price depends on the number of people and nights stayed. The price for one night at this hotel was twice as much as other hotels we stayed at, such as the one in Venice, which was around 60 euros per night for two people. Here, it was around 120 euros, making it very expensive for the limited facilities offered. Given the high cost and the issues we experienced, I do not recommend this hotel. All in all, our stay was just "okay." But considering the price and the inconveniences, I would not recommend Hotel Dover to anyone.
