I sincerely appreciate the host’s kindness and graciousness in refunding me in full, even though the booking was listed as non-refundable. That gesture showed genuine care for guests, and I truly respect that.
That said, I’d like to offer some honest feedback in hopes that it might help improve the place and better align it with the warm and inviting atmosphere shown in the profile photos.
The property, while affordable and listed as a hostel, felt more like workers’ quarters in its current condition. The air carried an oily stench, possibly from the closed restaurant nearby, which made the room feel stuffy. The wooden door and double-deck bed appeared to be self-assembled and somewhat unsteady, and the overall furnishings looked very old. The lounge and bathroom areas also seemed worn and could use deep cleaning and some maintenance.
To improve, perhaps a few small updates could make a big difference:
• Better ventilation or air fresheners to remove the oily smell.
• Reinforcing or replacing the beds and doors for safety and comfort.
• Adding soft touches such as plants, simple wall art, or warm lighting to create the cozy, welcoming atmosphere shown in the listing photos.
• Refreshing the shared areas with new curtains, clean floor mats, and a little décor can transform the space from purely functional to inviting.
I completely understand that it’s a budget accommodation, and expectations should be realistic. But even within that, a bit of care in presentation and upkeep would really help guests feel more at ease and comfortable.
Once again, I’m thankful for the host’s responsiveness and kindness — that part of the experience was truly positive. I hope these suggestions help bring out the potential that the place clearly has. 🌸
