Grand Central Hotel Belfast

Unfortunately, our one-night stay was quite disappointing, particularly given that this is a 5-star hotel. From check-in, the service was not what we expected. The receptionist told us our room wasn’t ready which was fine but did not offer any assistance with our bags until we asked. After putting our bags aside the receptionist had already moved onto the next customer without providing any information. When we asked when check-in would be, we were simply told “3” in a rather abrupt manner. We were also not given any information about breakfast, where it was located, the breakfast times, where the lifts were or what floor our room was on. When we returned after 3pm, we asked about booking the cocktail bar and were told that we could simply walk in. However, when we went to the bar, we were told there was a priority waiting list and we had to wait. This could easily have been avoided if we had been given the correct information at check-in. Unfortunately, breakfast was another disappointing experience. We were told we would be shown to a table, but the staff member walked over to another table and left us standing, so we eventually found our own seats. We also weren't told whether breakfast was buffet or table service. The choice of fruit was extremely limited, with only apples available, and there were no berries, pineapple or the usual selection of pastries and fruit we would expect from a 5-star hotel. Room service was also problematic. After waiting around 30 minutes, we had heard nothing and had to call again. We were later told by the General Manager that they had tried to contact our room regarding an item that wasn't available, but we had received no call. Rather than contacting us and offering an alternative, our order was simply left without any update. A complimentary bottle of wine was eventually sent to the room as an apology, which was a kind gesture, although it wasn't what we needed. Overall, the individual issues may seem small, but when they happen repeatedly during a one-night stay, they really affect the overall experience. We were particularly disappointed because we expected a much higher level of service and attention to detail from a 5-star hotel. Sadly, we left feeling that the experience did not live up to the standard we expected.

Beautiful hotel with a fabulous location - we all loved our stay , staff were so lovely .

Stay was good, facilities could be slightly better, the hotel should have a gym. I was annoyed though as i paid for the stay at the time of booking and then when my wife checked in for our stay she was charged for the stay also therefore we paid twice. The hotel did refund the amount however weren't too concerned that this had happened and offerred no real apology for the inconvenice it had caused me which i found dissappointing as it was £160 that i was overcharged.
