Had the best stay at Bastión Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cartagena!
The location was fantastic, breakfast was really good, and our room was large, spacious and well air-conditioned, with all the amenities we needed. Travelling with a friend, we particularly appreciated having two comfortable double beds, and there was still plenty of space to move around and relax. The rooftop pool area was also lovely and a great place to unwind.
However, the real standout was the staff! Everyone was so friendly, welcoming and helpful, and their hospitality really made our stay. We felt so well looked after from start to finish and would happily stay here again!

Perfect location for a great hotel - recommended. Brilliant a/c which meant that the bedroom was a perfect temperature for sleeping on the comfy bed. Shower is seriously powerful and a good temperature, with lovely toiletries.
Breakfast is excellent with made-to-order eggs (thank you Gina!) and everything else you could expect. Roof top terrace bar and pool are a perfect spot for winding down of an evening, super staff and reasonable prices for Cartagena.
Location is perfect - in the walled city, but not noisy at night, so you have the perfect balance. Great restaurants and bars within a short (and safe!) walk.

We are very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. We’ve been to a few other hotels that are cheaper and way better value. The staff at check-in were unwelcoming they continuously said I made a double booking until I showed them my cancellation email. It was then they took action to ask where they could have done so earlier. Barely any smiles from staff. The AC was leaking water so we had to change rooms at the middle of the night. They gave us a smaller room but said it was an upgrade. The interior of the room was patchy and you can tell that they were trying to cover all the water stains on the ceiling and wall. We stay at a Faranda hotel previous nights and would recommend you stay with them over this hotel 100%
