Pleasant property, nice hosts and close to the city center

The very nice host met us at the property to give us the keys and an upgrade!! She was incredibly helpful and sent us recommendations of places to visit and restaurants. The property is located in a street where there's a market during the day, and we thought it would be very noisy and confusing, but it wasn't at all! The apartment was very nice, and it had everything we needed. The kitchenette was well-equipped. We could easily walk to the city center (about 3-4min walk). We would definitely stay here again. We had a parking space for us, for free, and the hosts let us keep the car there after check-out until we had to leave.

Access to the apartment is through stairs, and the building entrance door is always open, which made it feel a bit unsafe. The access to the garage is very tricky, and to get to it, we had to wait for the host, so he could direct us to the parking spot.

I'd rate my stay as good. The location is excellent. However, I'd like to warn that cheaper rooms might have a relatively low standard. Our room only had one small window high up near the ceiling, no view of Ohrid, and no balcony. The owners were very kind and helpful.

Disappointing after reading such good reviews

We booked on the same day as we decided to stay in Ohrid, the host came and met us very quickly and was very friendly and showed us where the parking was and checked us into our room. The location in terms of how close it is to everything was good and the room was cheap, good to have parking even though it was very tight.

From the UK and my phone didn’t work in Macedonia, luckily we had bought a sim over there as we had to call the host to meet them otherwise it wouldn’t have been easy to find. Without the sim we would have been really stuck. The parking is tight as you have to park on one of those ramp/rising car lift which was quite tricky, also the door you leave the car park to get to the apartment locks and there is no key so you can’t get back in the same way, you have to walk a long way around which isn’t the end of the world but not ideal. The apartment is essentially what was once one flat, each room has been made into a mini apartment, so you walk in what would have been the hallway, the main door isn’t locked, neither is the outside door for the main entrance to the building, only your personal room is locked which didn’t feel the most secure. We had to call the host out at around 9pm as the toilet was leaking all over the floor as it just kept filling up. The lady told us the issue is with the flush, you have to keep tapping it for it to come back up otherwise it floods. This was a known issue that doesn’t appear to be being looked into or fixed. The lady mopped the floor and gave us some bath mats to put down but obviously less than ideal to have an issue with the flush, we asked for another apartment and was told it has the same issue, so we were just left with it, thankfully we were only there one night. Generally the apartment was clean however, not so much behind the toilet and quite a bit of mould in the shower. The bed sheet and towel also had some orangey/brown stains on them. The fan in the bathroom was really dirty, I don’t think this gets cleaned ever. Yes it was cheap but unfortunately a case of you get what you pay for and I wouldn’t stay there again.

Great for a short stay in the very centre

The location is very good because it is right in the centre - close to the lake but also to the bus stop for going south along the lake. It is a simple but nice room in a new building. The owners were very nice as they left us the keys to accommodate our check-in time and also allowed us to leave our stuff during our check-out day.

The curtains are a bit short and see-through so one gets woken up by the light as soon as it gets bright outside. Having a proper hob and a better-equipped kitchenette would be nice.

Not an apartment

The modern style of the apartment and proximity to the town

Called an apartment but no cookings facilities (hot plate) no sink to wash dishes, bathroom sink instead. Curtains didn't close together so no privacy and let in lots of light. Wifi was very very slow/didn't work and was told it was because it was the end of the month... Had to go to near by restaurants to work and use their wifi. Toilet brush was extremely dirty and full of faeces.

Perfect

The apartment is exceptional, beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, large bathroom, cleanliness. Very close to the pedestrian tourist street, a few meters away. The owner is very nice and kind, she gave us the necessary advice to discover the city, she helped us personally with the transport to the airport. An unmissable accommodation, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
