Aqua Blue

We had a great one week stay here and felt right at home. The hammocks at the front are great, it’s close to the beach and the hospitality is 10/10. Yummy breakfast and super friendly owner who helped us with all our errands such as visas, transport and also surf lessons.

Aqua Blue is a great place to stay in Arugam Bay! It is away from the noisy parts of the city and only 100 m away from the beach. Loved everything about staying here! 🫶

Cosy, clean and close to the beach. Each room has a great balcony or small porch. For very hot days there is a fan, aircon and a small fridge for water drinks etc. The manager Basheer is great and helps with whatever you need including daily activities or aches or pains, ordering a tuk tuk or buying bottles of water, whatever you need. Basheer also helps with tours surfing lessons, safari, yoga etc, and Dinusha cooks an amazing breakfast. The options vary from delicious Sri Lankan staples to muesli and smoothies (all in the very generous Sri Lankan portion size).

We had a lovely and very relaxing stay at Aqua Blue. Bashir was an excellent host — always available to help, give advice and make sure we had everything we needed. The hotel is in a quiet part of Arugam Bay, close to the beach, but still within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars for an evening drink. We had an amazing safari during our stay and were lucky enough to see a leopard, elephants, water buffalo and lots of other wildlife. We even had an elephant wander close to the hotel, which was a brilliant experience. Breakfast was another highlight and we especially enjoyed the shakshuka. Overall, a peaceful, friendly place with a great host and a very good location. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Aqua Blue to anyone visiting Arugam Bay
