Mitropolis Old Town Apartment

Mitropolis Old Town apartment is an excellent place to stay when visiting Corfu town. The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the centre of Old Town, with shops, bars, and restaurants right outside the front door! The apartment was well maintained and clean, and equipped with decent facilities/amenities. The owners were super helpful and great communicators. I would definitely stay here again!

The bathroom and kitchen area are quite small, so if you are planning on staying for a long time or with a lot of people then it can feel a little cramped. But for a shorter trip it is perfect!

the location is old town, less than two minutes from excellent bars, restaurants, (of all budgets), and three minutes from a supermarket. It was at the top of some steps from a main road and taxi rank, by a church. So it was an easy drop off. Rudolfos instructions were detailed & correct. He was flexible about our arrival time. We got there earlier, we messaged him & asked if this was ok. There was a book of information, not too much, We had a couple of questions, we asked on WhatApp and he was prompt about answering. He welcomed feedback. He was grateful we left some maps and cards from places we'd been. The tourist office is rubbish, but there are some book shops where you can get some information. The best bookshop in Corfu Town is Plous. The building has a lift. it's not suitable for wheelchair users, and a flght of steps outside, so not great if your walking is compromised. Things that were good were: 1) the location, as the apartment was inside the old town and walking distance to old town, to the local beach (called Faliraki), to the city tour bus stop where you can take the tour bus, the old fortress, the Liston asuare and so on. 2) Price was fair 3) It would be very afforable for a single person or a young couple or two young couples on a TIGHT budget or 2 to 3 students who are not looking for comfort.

There were many things I didn't like so I won't come again even though I visit Corfu twice a year. Had it been good I could have become a regular but it wasn't: 1) Not great first impression of checking in as the instructions on how to get the key from the key locker were not adequate. Management company just said put this code without saying that a small thing on the side of the locker was a button and I should switch it down. I had to call them to explain and I was tired from a long flight and just wanted to get it. On the phone call, the property manager was literally laughing, telling me it is so easy and why I can't figure it out.Then the key I got was not working, I tried like 15 times and the door was simply not opening. I had to call again, same guy laughing again telling me that the keys work and someone just used them instead of behaving like a serious person and a professional and trying to investigate the issue. I said they definitely don't work and the answer was (again laughing) "Ok, what can I do, I will leave my job and come there to help you" Seriously? Isn't THIS your job? He came again laughing again and saying "What is wrong with you". It turns out the key DID NOT WORK and I used the second pair to open. People in Greece need to learn what customer service is and that their customers are not their friends or family and also what is wrong with them? WTF. 2) The apartment initially seemed good but many issues came up very shortly as a result of cheap material and furnishings. There is no sound proofing whatsoever. I could hear people partying outside even with all windows closed. Block of flats old scary with lights turning out after 30 secs. Table and chairs really WOBBLY basically falling apart. Impossible to use it to eat or as a working surface. No shampoo or shower gel. Broken toilet seat!!! Door lock half broken. Cheap wonky mattress, could feel the springs.
