Sumatra Monkey Trekking

Cheeky Monkey is a magical little place - hosts Agus and Sarah are so welcoming and helpful, and all of their staff are incredibly friendly. The 3 day, 2 night trek was magical, unforgettable. Our amazing guide, Rian, and his bubbly assistant, Yoris, made the trip an absolute blast. They were both so kind, attentive, funny, and I learned so much! We were so well fed with such great food throughout, and after dinner conversations or games flowed into the night. The crew were extra conscientious, packing food and scraps away after all meals, rather than feeding the wildlife like we saw with the other guides. My stay at the accommodation itself (guest houses) was peaceful, comfortable. Their restaurant offers some great local dishes and conversation, as their team quickly introduced themselves and before long we were sharing stories and jokes. Their resident dogs Cheeky, Dora, and Bandal round out their wonderful team. As a solo traveller, Cheeky Monkey was a great place to stay and trek with. I met families with young children, friends, and other solo travellers - everyone was welcomed, smiles all round.

Incredible staff, they took care of us and more. The facilities are placed on the other side of “town” as the jungle, there’s a river 3 min walk away where we went swimming, the food is really really good, they really take care of everything one needs. The jungle trek was amazing with Felix and Santa, Andrei was making us perfect coffee whenever we wanted to. He played beautiful songs in the evening. Can’t inagine staying anywhere else really. We loved it.
