About this house rental
Cozy holiday cottage in Morfjorden on the north side of Austvågøya. From the cottage and the terrace is a great view of the beautiful fjord landscape. Nice area for mountain hikes and summit skiing in the winter. Rich sea fishing in the fjord, boats for rent. The cottage was built in 1985 and renovated in 2015. Large terrace with outdoor furniture is facing the sunny side to the west and north where the midnight sun in spring and summer can be seen on beautiful evenings. 2 bedrooms, one with double bed and one with bunk beds for 2 pers. An extra bed in the living room. Free internet and TV with international channels, including German. Outdoor wood-fired sauna shared with 2 other rental units; firewood/heating costs NOK 500. From the sauna, there is a magnificent view of the fjord landscape, the sunset and the midnight sun in the north. Great hiking terrain for the whole family along the sea and up in the mountains. Along the south side of the fjord are large dunes and idyllic sandy beach. Large wetland area with rich bird life. In winter, summit hikes in the area are popular, where you can go up the mountain and ski from the mountain tops down to the sea. Further south is the fishing village Laukvik with the open sea outside. Here you can walk along the large pier that protects the harbor and enjoy the salty sea air. 43 km to Svolvær which is the capital of Lofoten. Good starting point for car trips around Lofoten and Vesterålen through the car ferry from Fiskebøl to Melbu. Great sea fishing. You can fish inside the fjord or in the open sea area outside the fjord. In addition to common sea fish, there are salmon and sea trout. 16 foot boat with 25 hp engine for rent. Sonar, chart plotter, gps and pole holders also for rent. The boats are located at the floating dock in the marina at Fiskebøl, 9 km from the house. The boat is available 1.5-1.10 and must be pre-booked.

Overall a nice experience, The cottage is a bit older but has been nicely renovated, The kitchen was functional and had all the appliances we needed, The only downside was the distance to the nearest grocery store, so plan accordingly,

We very much enjoyed our stay. The location was beautiful and off the beaten path of many of the busy Lofoten tourist areas but convenient to Svolvaer. We were there for the summer solstice and able to watch the Midnight Sun well into the "night".
The Sauna had an amazing view. It was a wonderful addition to our stay. If you want to sauna when you arrive then you should inform the host ahead of time so he can prepare it for you.
If you plan to cook you should also plan to bring everything you need. There were limited pots and pans but no condiments, oils or spices.
The Host lives on site and was available for anything we needed plus gave us great advice for a beautiful hike.
I hope we have the opportunity to return we loved our stay.
