Lovely place to stay, quirky but original

Great setting, spotless throughout the building, Rooms are spacious and nicely presented, facilities in the kitchen are ideal and just off the town so nice and quiet in the evening.

Maybe slightly better signage for the main gate exit in the evening

Lack of hangers and wardrobe space, the shared in the communal area TV had very limited channels (important as there were no TVs in the rooms)

Great accommodation in a great place with plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.

We had a great breakfast at a near by hotel because the Castle was renovating the restaurant.

We had 2 flights of stairs to reach out room.

The accommodation was lovely.

Location was excellent and the property beautifully restored. I loved the big bath and the bed was very comfortable. We stayed in the Gardeners cottage and it is well worth a revisit

The dryer did not work properly so I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to get all my washing done for the rest of our trip. I specifically looked for a property with a washer and dryer

Not quite perfect but very close!

Loved the location, the cottage itself, the stonework, the option for a cosy fire, fully equipped and furnished, lovely thick curtains to create a lovely feel and block out the light for a good night’s sleep. Very comfortable. Slept well. We brought our Corsa having read the comments about the narrow entrance so that worked well and we had no difficulties in parking. Arrangements for arrival and checking in were detailed and well thought out.

The one ply toilet roll! Why would use the cheapest toilet roll you could find? Really lets you down when everything else is so good! £160 a night you expect better! You have to use way more paper which I’m sure works out the same cost wise as the more expensive rolls. Also, plenty of nice handwash but stingy with the shower/shampoo/conditioner. These extra little touches are sadly lacking.

Good and Bad

The room was okay, bit warm, but used the fan. The situation of the room was lovely and nice view overlooking the river. Reception were great and very helpful.

The Breakfast was very sparse and not much choice at all either cooked or continental. We had 4 breakfasts there as that what i had paid for, but they got it nearly right by the last day. During the few days we were there we had undercooked beans, burnt toast, wooden and difficult to cut bacon and burnt on the bottam eggs, overall not good.

A very comfortable stay in a Castle with parking

Good sized very quiet room, with a view and a walk-in wardrobe. Our room had single beds. Bathroom very modern with (very) hot water. Wi-Fi OK, but unsecured. The cost included daily breakfast, which consisted of a Continental start followed by a cooked breakfast, which was offered as a small or large portion. Nice common area with kitchen facilities and two areas with table and chairs. The venue was recycling conscious. Reception was staffed all day and were very friendly. Carpark was fairly close with access by a short wide ramp and one internal staircase to the 1st floor room. Location was only a 1 minute level walk from the start of the town. There were two large convenience shops about a five minute level walk further on.

Minimal shelving in the bathroom.

Exhausting but a good experience

The setting, the furnishing of the rooms, the helpfulness of the staff, the comfortable bed

I had not realised we would be on the second floor. With some mobility problems I found the slopes on site and the stairs a bit much. Also, though the bathroom was spectacular, especially the bath, it was a hazard for someone with mobility problems. Having said that, the shower was excellent.

Very convoluted system of parking and definitely not clearly explained re one way system etc.. The accommodation was very clean but very stark and not at all warm and welcoming. The bathroom was positively clinical! Ideal if you wanted to give birth..but absolutely not luxurious in any way. Very disappointing. Lots of workmen's tools, wood, collapsed tents, tables etc dotted all along the route from the car to the apartment making it pretty difficult to negotiate with suitcases. The view from the bedroom window was out onto a grass area which resembled a scrap yard strewn broken rubbish. As for staying in Cardigan Castle?? Where was it?? It felt more like an after thought random Airbnb as opposed to the 'idea' that you were staying within the castle grounds which was definitely the idea that was suggested in the booking description. Plus the final insult to be asked to strip the bed and place the bedding in a specific location!! I'm very happy to do that if I stayed in a Hostel but most definitely not when allegedly staying in Cardigan Castle!

It was good for one night.

Beautiful building, clean and lots of good communication prior to arrival. Reception staff lovely and friendly. Quite a basic room in the East Wing with a shared kitchen and lounge area. I imagine this would be great for a family get together.

Not really a dislike, just a caution - The car park entrance and exit was very tight. We have a fairly large car to be fair but it was a little challenging. The breakfast location is in the grounds, luckily the weather was good for us but if it’s raining then go prepared to walk to the outer building.

Perfect summer stay

Brilliant room with seperate seating area. Comfy bed. Good tea and coffee options. Very good shower. Bonus that you can watch any show in the grounds as a guest for free. Staff are the friendliest you can find anywhere. Free parking a bonus in Cardigan. A special place

Perfect retreat in the heart of the town.

The room was fabulous, in the east wing. Everything you could need is available either in the room or in the shared kitchen area on the ground floor. The breakfast choice in the cafe was amazing and cooked fresh to order. We stayed in the summer, so was offered free access to the events on offer in the grounds. We saw a play and an outdoor movie during our 3 night stay. The hotel is central to Cardigan, so everything is easily accessible. It was a perfect place to stay.

I honestly can't think of anything that would have made our stay better.

I was slightly worried about access gates etc as I don’t do airbnb but instructions were comprehensive and it was so easy. All the staff are helpful and friendly especially lovely young lady in gift shop.

The room was large & spacious. Breakfast was great and staff were lovely.

The bed was so hard. I travel a lot and I know it’s personal preference but I don’t think I have ever slept on a bed that hard and the pillows were awful. If I had booked for more than 2 nights I would had needed to go and buy some pillows.

Very enjoyable stay in most convivial and attractive surroundings.

Central location, clear and accurate directions/joining instructions, attractiveness of environment, clean accommodation, good facilities such as showering and bathroom, comfortable bed (and in our case a lovely view of the kitchen garden). Breakfast facilities were conveniently located.

Nothing to dislike. However the shared kitchen meant there was no tea/coffee facilities in the room. Access to the car park is very tight, so needs to be approached carefully and with regard to wing mirrors.

A very comfortable stay in an historic gem

The breakfast in the on-site restaurant was excellent. There is a very convenient on-site private and secure car park, a little small but all we needed for our motorbikes. There is a children’s play area on site but we resisted that. The accommodation was airy, big enough and extremely well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Though I may regret it if I want to return I cannot recommend this venue highly enough!
