Cecropia Ecolodge

We had a wonderful stay at Cecropia Ecolodge, Nohelia the host was brilliant and her passion for the lodge and the wildlife was evident and great to see. The breakfast was great - good portions and enjoyable food, and it was great to be able to sit and eat this whilst watching the birds. The room itself was nice with a comfortable bed, good shower and great water pressure, and well sealed to the insects outside especially given its location surrounded by nature. We did both the day tour and the night tour and found these to be great experiences and very different from each other. We saw lots of animals on the night tour - especially many varieties of frogs! Nohelia was able to explain all the wildlife, trees and plants in detail. She made me feel very comfortable doing the tour which was great as I had been nervous about the night tour and the animals we might have seen (being somewhat scared of snakes and spiders), but I was put at ease straight away. The day tour was also great, we had Jay as a guide and he was brilliant, we saw how the lodge grows various plants including herbs, fruits and trees. We walked a slightly different path to the night tour, and we saw animals such as a toucan. We also had the opportunity to all plant a tree which was a lovely experience to be part of. At the end of our stay Nohelia also advised us on things to do during the rest of our trip and this proved to be very helpful! We would highly recommend this accommodation - even if you don't do the additional tours, there is still so much to see around the property! But that said we did enjoy the extras and would recommend these tours - it made it possible to see so much more!

We loved everything. I think a 4x4 is more than mandatory to get there. But everything was perfect. Thank you Jay for this magical moment!

Fun little trails leading to the different lodge buildings. Also, the 3 km long nature trail was a nice hike.

It was a little strenuous getting to the property due to some unpaved roads.

EVERYTHING! This was a one of a kind experience! The location was perfect , we saw so much wildlife- we started the day bird watching at breakfast, breakfast was delicious and we saw soo many species of birds , different ones each day too! The hosts were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and one night took us to spot frogs and there we saw snakes eating them! It was all so peaceful being in the heart of nature.

It is very out of the way which meant taxis were expensive but the hosts were extremely helpful at ordering us taxis and asked us if we needed snacks when they went to the city. But this is what comes with being in such a perfect location and we did not mind this!!
