The first word that comes to mind as I sit here eating dinner on the balcony of the Bioporos restaurant is “magical.” The enchantment of the place is indescribable. We had the entire farm to ourselves and were the only two being served at the restaurant, creating a private and intimate ambiance that felt like a scene from a dream. I highly recommend it. Dinner at 8pm was a perfect choice. As the sun set behind the hill, casting a golden glow over the landscape, we sipped wine and watched birds gracefully soar over the farm's 2,000 olive trees. It was a moment of pure tranquility and beauty. The house itself was a sanctuary of peace. With the shutters closed, not a ray of sunlight could penetrate, making it the ideal haven for restful sleep. I felt like I could have slept for a week, cocooned in utter silence. Staying at Bioporos Organic Farm is an “experience” in the truest sense. This rural retreat offers a connection with nature that is unparalleled. Be prepared to encounter giant toads on the pathway to the restaurant, vibrant green lizards basking in the sun, roosters crowing, sheep grazing freely, swallows nesting on the restaurant balcony, and even the occasional hornet trying to enter the house if the door is left open. A small green frog even found its way into the toilet, adding to the rustic charm. If you're not ready for nature at your doorstep, this might not be the place for you. But for those who embrace it, the experience is extraordinary and unforgettable.

Bioporos, das sind nicht nur zwei Ferienhäuser, sondern auch ein Restaurant und eine Biofarm (Oliven, Honig und Schafe) auf der Iro und ihr Team (Familienmitglieder, Freiwillige und Freunde) im Einklang mit der Natur wirtschaften, leben und sich um die Gäste und ihr leibliches Wohl kümmern. Im Einklang mit der Natur wirtschaften und leben bedeutet auch, dass im Restaurant nur saisonale und vor allem regionale (überwiegend sogar eigene) Produkte von Iro (manchmal auch gemeinsam mit ihrer Mutter) nach heimischen Rezepten verarbeitet werden. Heraus kommen genußvolle Speisen, die wahre Gaumenschmeichler sind. Das Restaurant können wir also uneingeschränkt empfehlen! Bioporos liegt direkt an der Korission Lagune im Süden Korfus und ist somit ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Touren im Süden der Insel. Das Gelände der Farm ist von der Hauptstraße in wenigen Minuten über mehr oder weniger befestigte Wege zu erreichen. Der Weg ist ausgeschildert und auch mit einem Kleinwagen gut zu bewältigen. In der Umgebung kann man gut wandern (Empfehlung: die Tour um die Lagune). Wer lieber an den Strand will, kann in einer Viertelstunde Fahrzeit (Auto) einen der schönsten Sträde der Insel - den schmalen Landstreifen zwischen Lagune und Meer - erreichen. Das Haus ist komfortabel ausgestattet und liegt etwas abseits des Restaurants (für den "Heimweg" Taschenlampe nicht vergessen). Das Haus lädt zum "Digital Detox" ein ;) - WLAN gibt es nur im Restaurant. Meist verbringt man die Abende sowieso beim Bestaunen des Sonnenunterganges auf der Terasse des Restaurants - Mückenschutz nicht vergessen. Auf Wunsch kann man auch eine Führung über das Gelände der Farm bekommen (nur in Englisch) und dabei Einiges über den Anbau von Oliven und das Führen eines Bio-Bauernhofes lernen. Workshops - z.B. zur Seifenherstellung werden ebenfalls angeboten. Für uns war Bioporos ein Ort an dem wir uns rundum wohl gefühlt haben. Wir können es auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

Bioporous Organic Farm reminds its visitors of what’s important — family, nature, connections, respect for our planet and our bodies. It is a beautiful, slow paced, friendly retreat from the hustle and bustle, pollution and pressure of modern urban life. The food served on a terrace overlooking olive orchards and the lagoon wad dome of the best I’d eaten in 3 weeks in Corfu, and the cooking class I took one Sunday morning means I can have at least one of those meals when I get home - along with a lovely memory of the lesson. The farm is perfectly located for exploring the beaches of southern Corfu and the two homes available for rental are comfortable and spacious. I’ll never forget arising in the middle of the night one night to see the full Harvest Moon reflected in the dark glass of the lagoon. Magical! Sheep (including two tiny ewes), a donkey, fresh honey straight from the hive, hand made bath products, fruit growing on trees to be plucked, hammocks for reading. What more could a traveler want? I hope someday to return.

it's hard to imagine a place more friendly and cozy than Bioporos. You'll find yourself in between olive trees, bee hives, a flock of sheep, a donkey and a horse, all of this topped off by stunning views over the property and the sea and by organic food and coffee. we stayed in one of the two houses with four beds and air con but you might as well bring your tent and sleep under the olive trees.
