Sandy Bay itself is lovely

We booked a ground floor and received a first floor. Myself and my elderly parents who are disabled. The walk in shower did not work, the washer was broken. The sofa looked like a dog had eaten it. It was not very clean and property contact useless.

Good location and size, we would return to spend more time in Filey

Size was great with a bathroom and ensuite shower room. Location was good, a couple of miles walk along the beach into Filey and a taxi ride home. Big fridge/freezer and oven worked well. Kids loved being able to use the swimming pool and us adults liked the sauna and steam room. Found some great pubs/bars in Whitby and enjoyed the Kite festival. Amazing fish and chips at Ingham's in Filey.

Could have done with a bit of a spruce up, carpets and sofa especially but absolutely fine for what we needed. Dryer not working but we put the heating on to dry our swimming things so again not a big issue. Lots of dogs around, could hear barking when we in our apartment but we're probably in the minority not being dog owners so probably not an issue for most. No leisure pass in the apartment but the staff at the leisure centre let us show our booking.com reservation to use the pool. O

Roomy property well set out. Kitchen great. Loved en suite and two toilets. Comfy sofas. Warm and cosy with great heating system.

Furniture tired, holes in sofa cushions. Not as clean as it could be. Dust webs around light shades. No WiFi. Kettle needs descaling. Carpets stained - cream (not the best colour for a holiday rental) Property just needs TLC

The whole place could do with a bit of TLC and a deep clean. But it was fine for a few nights and the kids had a great time.

Great location

Spacious apartment, is much bigger than looks on photos. Great location. Beds very comfortable.

We found it difficult to find the apartment initially. Not clear if we were able to use the swimming pool. As with other reviews, decor a little tired and sofa not the most comfortable. Didn’t really bother us as we were out all day. Would happily pay extra for a washing machine facility especially being so close to beach and having sandy towels etc.

The bay, Filey

Enjoyed trips to the beach which is well located, trip's to filey & whitby. Apartment was clean & well located to all the amenities. Priced very reasonable. Enjoyed our weekend. 😊

Relaxing comfortable convenient

The site was peaceful . The apartment was adequate. Bed was clean and comfortable. Linen and towels were provided. Leisure pass was excellent because we could use all the leisure centre facilities for free. Beach was close by .

Needed a spare set of keys. Stairs to first floor were difficult for our aging dog and wife with bad knees. Apartment needed some TLC . Old sofas needed replacing, showers need fixing carpets need replacing maybe with laminate. Overall needs an update.

A bit disappointin.

The first impression was good but it quickly became clear the place was well looked after or maintained. Neither of the showers had working temperature controls and there were loose sockets, pealing paint and worn furniture. It was generally just tatty. It needs a little TLC.

Property lacks love.

Fridge was warm and ruined food Bath had no plug Sink in bathroom jammed so water could not escape Took ages to find leisure pass. Holes in sofa. Bedroom windows have dirt growing on them. Several other petty things but no answer to messages or phone from owners. They were totally absent. I love the Bay and the best Cottage I have ever booked was here but this experience was less than expected. I can’t understand why they don’t answer calls. The issues could be easily fixed and I would not have put them here had the owner responded to messages.

The apartment was well equipped. The location is excellent. Right next to the shop, pub, pharmacy and leisure centre. The beauty therapist offers fantastic massages. Filey beach is stunning. Very clean and virtually empty. Filey Town is quaint, and the Brigg offers great rock pooling.

The apartment needs some TLC. The on-site shop could offer more in the way of fresh produce.

Didn’t feel able to relax in the apartment.

Have always enjoyed staying at this holiday park which I have visited many times but in different apartments.

On this occasion was disappointed with the apartment. The sofas were badly worn damaged and dirty. The bath and shower fittings were hanging off the wall and there was no adjustment on the shower controls. Numerous kitchen cupboard doors were loose and hanging off. Finally, no note to warn me the fridge/freezer was not working in the kitchen.

The Bay Holiday Park is great. Beds were OK.

WISH WE HADN'T BOOKED Frustrated after lots of confusion as to whether we were booked into number 50 or 56 and two different pass codes (9064 & 1956). I had booked a ground floor apartment due to disability and my booking on booking.com confirms this. We could not get a phone signal on the park (2 phones) so went to main reception who kindly helped us. To find out the booking had been changed due to the fact number 50 has been sold is not only annoying but now makes our holiday difficult due to the stairs. Surely you have a duty to notify if changes are made to a booking. I would have refused this apartment due to my disability with the stairs. My husband who has a stoma and hernia has struggled with luggage up the stairs. I would not book again. Blinds broken Blind cords are not safety cords, risk of children strangulation, blinds too long for windows Main fridge broken, second fridge in dining g room Cupboard doors in kitchen broken Front door rattles, loose fitting Booked ground floor was not notified would be upstairs. Cushion in.lounge feel chatty Sofas saggy Rug in lounge looks gross Smoke alarm hanging off the ceiling

en-suite shower temperature control seemed to stay the same (warm), whichever direction it turned.

Okay for price

The price was reasonable. although I had originally booked for 3 nights but received a message from the owner that they could not give me 3 nights, so only stayed for 2 which wasn't long enough really

Apartment needs updating. The couches in particular are virtually unusable they are so saggy, couldn't sit comfortably. Just needs a general updating all round.

I’ve stayed at the bay twice before & would definitely recommend booking through away resorts. this time the property was not as clean, blinds damaged, walls chipped in places. had to reset boiler (no instructions) in order to get hot water. bathroom has a foisty smell. there is no internet (first time I’ve had this at the bay) and we had no passes so unable to use leisure facilities. they were supposed to be in a red walled but there wasn’t one. staff won’t help as it was a private booking. dvds were scratched etc so overall disappointing stay compared to my previous stays
