Bell grew up in nearby Margaree Valley, while I grew up in Toronto and have lived here full-time for 30 years. This cottage that has all of the charm of our original SeaSky cottage, but adds an extra (separate) bedroom.

The Cape Cottage was designed specifically for visitors' pleasure and needs. You will enjoy complete seclusion and incredible views in one of the most spectacular parts of Cape Breton. As day turns to evening in technicolor, relax, listen to music or catch up on things you don't have time for at home.

Chimney Corner beach is one of the finest on the island, and it's mostly unoccupied during the week– in addition to the fine beach and safe swimming for children, there are interesting rock formations to explore nearby. Cape Breton is a spectacular place, and you'll find the scenery on this stretch of coastline particularly striking.

There is a rich, strong culture here, historically and musically, and life unwinds at its own special pace. Although a three-day visit to the Island is not uncommon, it takes more time to really get a sense of the rhythms and charm of Cape Breton. Cape Breton summers are warm-to-hot in the day, but perfect in the evening, with lovely ocean breezes.

We stayed at the Cape cottage from Oct. 4-11. The cottage is exactly as pictured - I would call it upscale rustic. Great spot if you want to get away for some chill time and watch the sunset from the front deck or from the cozy chairs inside. Cottage was very clean and tidy and had all the amenities we needed for cooking, tea, coffee etc. Very cool decor. The Cape cottage is suitable for three people. As check in is at 4 pm and the closest grocery store is about 20-30 mins away, I would recommend having some food with you for at least the first night and morning so you don't have to go out if you arrive after dark. Stewart is a fantastic host and was extremely helpful in providing us some suggestions for things to do and how to get around the area.Although it was October, we had unseasonably warm weather for the first few days so we went to some of the beaches in the area which are amazing! Chimney Corner beach is just a 3 min drive from the cottage and a great place to take a walk, sit and chill and gather some driftwood. Autumn is a great time to visit Cape Breton - the fall foliage is stunning! We are already working on our trip for next year.

It's hard to believe, but the view was even more magical than described in the listing. Our first night we opened a bottle of local wine and watched the sunset on the ocean. The cottage is modern and well designed and comes with everything you need. A perfect get away spot!
