The Long Room Hotel and Bar

One of the highlights of my stay was the bar and restaurant. The food was very enjoyable, and I had guests join me on two occasions. On both visits, we had excellent meals and a pleasant experience. The bar staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive, which created a lovely atmosphere and was a real positive during my stay.

Unfortunately, my stay at The Long Room was disappointing. The room was quite dated, tired and not as clean as I had expected. When I arrived, the communal toilet outside my room was dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned. The bed linen was also below the standard I would expect for guests. One of the pillowcases looked dirty, as though it had not been changed, which was quite off-putting. The only window in the room, a skylight, was covered in dirt, making the room feel neglected. My room was on the top floor, and as I'm travelling for 12 months, I have a very heavy suitcase. Carrying it up several flights of stairs without a lift was extremely difficult, and unfortunately, no assistance was offered. Overall, while the location was convenient, the cleanliness, the condition of the room, and the lack of assistance made the stay disappointing.

The location and closeness to the nearest Underground station wasn't too bad and, obviously, I was aware of that before booking. Contact with the staff was brief but they were very helpful.

More teabags and coffee, milk and sugar and a few biscuits or chocolate bars in the room on arrival would've been appreciated. As it was very hot in London (25/26°) when I stayed the room (Room 12) was very hot and without being able to open a window upon arrival was disappointing. As a frequent traveller, I would always expect a window to be open upon arrival.

Television not working ask a manager to look at it for me and they said it was already broke I thought they should of moved us to other room or don’t put anyone in there till it was fixed also drinks in draws being left and carpet weren’t hoovered
