We loved the accommodation, location and it's peaceful surroundings. The owners were very
The accommodation itself was lovely but just needed some tlc and general maintenance . Minor things like electrical equipment and lighting checks . The bathroom water screen needed to be resealed along fixture edges to stop water leaking onto floor.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was a really peaceful area and the chalet was charming and always warm. A much needed getaway from my busy life.
It was nice having the beach right at our doorstep and the land around the chalets for our dog to roam in.
The one thing I couldn't get over was how pretty and bright the stars were. I've never seen them that bright before.
Overall we really enjoyed our time here and definitely would come back in the future.
If you don't have a car it would probably be difficult for you to get around but that's to be expected with the countryside.

The chalet was really nice made from wood panels, the disappointment was the small wood burner ( it was to small for the chalet to heat up the whole of the building). Otherwise it was really nice.
Wood burner was to small as I have put above, the extractor fan within the bathroom did not work at all, furniture was a bit out of date needs to have new furniture, the bed in the larger room needs a new mattress as this one the springs are gone and make noises when you move in the bed and wake you up,
The access road needs to have better signage also the road to the chalets needs addressing, the pot holes are really bad and it's all the way from the road up to the chalet, this needs to be addressed asap.

Delightful spacious wooden chalets well spaced apart in a large open space. Just minutes from the beach through a secure gate. The location is ideal for families, dogs and everyone. There is plenty to do and see in the area and the pub just 5 minutes away serving a very good menu.
There were no downsides to our holiday.

The sea is a 30sec walk with a lovely pub just up the beach about 10mins walk when the tide is out, took our German shepherd dog with us and she really enjoyed herself, it was very dog friendly even the pub was. The lodge had Everything we needed with great views.
Considering we have a long hair gsd she brought half the beach back with her, apart from that there was nothing to dislike everything was perfect.

The lodge is very well positioned for a Solway holiday. I love the Carsethorn area so the position of the three lodgers is ideal for a quiet solway holiday.
Silly little things really: Two of the lights in the kitchen did not work, there was no plug in the sink or plastic bowl to use as an alternative. There appears to be less cutlery then previously making use of the dishwasher less practical. The measuring jug in the kitchen had a hole in the bottom (this was placed in the bin as it made a right mess when used). There appears to be a small leak under the sink and the kitchen area smells of stagnant water. The grass outside the lodges always seems to be too long which takes away the beauty of the site.

The chalet was everything we were looking for, secluded but not remote, beautiful setting and literally 2 minutes from the beach. The beach was on the Nith Estuary and therefore tidal, giving constantly changing scenery. For any keen birdwatchers, it was paradise! Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves and the local pub, The Steamboat Inn, was a 5 minute walk along the beach.
We loved everything about the chalet/lodge, a welcome pack would have been nice and directions to the nearest bottle bank, but that's being really nit-picky!

The chalet was next to a farm and the kids liked seeing the sheep/ cows each day.
Chalet was large enough and airy and a powerful shower.
The outside of the chalet and the outside furniture had seen better days and could have been doing with a coat of paint and a clean. The grass outside the chalets was also too long and looked like it had been a few weeks since it had been cut.
The windows were covered in cobwebs and also needed cleaned.
Inside of chalet had a broken slab that the log fire sat on - (dangerous if you had small children).
Cobwebs around the window frames and on the ceilings in both bedrooms.
The edges of the kitchen cupboards had come away and looked partly melted.
We booked the chalet on the basis of having a sea view....maybe 10 years ago when there were no bushes/ trees. So no view. The pictures on the website were totally misleading.
The path down to the beach was completely overgrown with nettles, hogweed and other bushes and we had to clear this away ourselves before we could venture down to the beach. Definitely not been cleared in a while.
For the amount of money we paid, we expected more and a better quality.
Didn't see any point in contacting the owner as we made the best of our time away and basic cleanliness etc should be a given.

nice location close to the beach. The chalet was clean inside. The beds were comfortable
The owner did come after 2 hours and sorted the internet and lighting out and took away the dirty linen from 3 chalets
The owner did come and change the gas bottle when asked
Bags of dirty washing and large containers of cleaning materials at the entrance to the chalet on arrival. Entering the property into the lounge area mop, bucket and hoover by the door(no cupboards to put them in)Internet not working, main light bulb gone and kitchen light no bulb in. crockery nothing matched, 3 cereal bowls, 3 different wine glasses and no tumblers.Ran out of gas so no hot water on returning from walk. The outside of the chalet looked tatty and was filthy and the “garden furniture “was tatty, old and very uncomfortable .
The furnishings in the lounge were “tired” and one easy chair had big holes in the arm

Great location just at the side of the beach. There is livestock in front of the property and it was lovely to see the lambs and calves. The location is so peaceful and scenic.
The couch and chairs in the property were so uncomfortable and could do with replacing. Also the outdoor chairs and table needed replacing and very uncomfortable making It so we couldn’t sit outside for any length of time which spoiled the stay as we had good weather.

nice basic property with reasonable facilities and good location
not clean on arrival; much crockery and utensils dirty and needed cleaning before use - eg lumps of potato in masher, rings in mugs. stains in fridge, crumbs and drips in freezer. fridge and bathroom doors didn’t shut properly. bin lid hanging off. utensils cheap quality, cups glasses etc didn’t match. some furniture from junk shop. no shelf in bathroom! bathroom window wouldn’t open. etc etc etc - lots of minor inattention and lack of thought for an expensive property. directions to property quite unhelpful, and no signs to help. proprietor came past just after we arrived, asked if we had found the place ok, and then left immediately without asking anything else - almost as if he really didn’t want to hear that there were issues with the property…

Warm and comfortable place, light and airy. Owners helpful and local. General area is good.
Slightly under resourced in kitchen crockery and utensils. Driveway a little rough.

Lovely cabin. Had all the amenities we needed. Absolutely loved having the log burner on every night really warmed the whole place up! We bought extra logs & kindling so we could have it going for the whole evening. Access down to the beach made for a lovely walk. Would recommend for a quiet get away.
Not having control of the heating hence having the log burner on every night. Couple of mornings it hadn't come on so was a cold wake up.

Great location. Beach on the door step. Lovely restaurant 5 minute walk along beach. Lodge was secluded & warm.
We felt the lodge needed some updating with regards to furniture/mattresses & utensils etc.
We felt that the lodge could benefit from a deep clean.

Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely views and the beach just behind the lodges. Lots of bramble bushes which my 3 year old loved! Steam Boat restaurant a 15min walk away. Two great farm parks and dino park within 30mins.
Black marks on shower room floor and damp smell. Main bedroom was pretty dusty too.

Big inside and airy
Good levels of items
Lovely little beach
Friendly organisation to deal with
Outside looks like it needs tidying up with varnish and grass cut
Lots of flies…. Had to keep windows shut

The location was excellent, especially if you need a get away from it all type of holiday. Dark skies too so it was ideal for stargazing. A lovely secluded beach just at the back of the lodge, the dogs loved it.
Very quiet and much needed relaxing break.
A few black patches on the bathroom floor, not sure what they were.

All good

The location was stunning and the local pub was fabulous. Great communication with the owners. The beds were comfy and the cabin was really clean. Lots of hot water, good heating and great to have a dishwasher and washing machine. Couldn't believe we watched an otter for 15 mins from the beach!!! No red squirrels unfortunately! A lovely place to stay 😊
The WiFi wasn't good enough for our work needs but we could see this was being improved for later guests. The kitchen cutlery/equipment was a bit limited. We were fine because we had all 3 chalets to borrow things from but this would have been a problem if we only had our cabin. The DVD remote didn't work in the middle cabin. All very minor negatives for a lovely holiday home!

Spacious outside area with grass to play on and undercover decking to make eating outside easy.
Bit disappointed in the views initially, we thought we would be able to see the sea from the chalets. The mountain view is nice though and it’s a very short walk to the beach area, though this is an estuary so stony and not swimmable

The lodge itself was beautiful and in a fantastic location.
Finishing touches to the lodge (blinds, bedding etc) were tired and needed renewing. A little more attention to detail with cleaning in all areas.

We stayed in Lapwing and loved it all. Nice open layout, good kitchen, comfy beds and sofa/armchairs, nice wood burner, kettle BBQ. Hosts greeted us on arrival and were friendly and helpful. It was so peaceful. Setting was really beautiful over-looking rural countryside and green hills, and 30 second walk down a private path to a huge deserted beach. Fantastic local pub (Steamboat Inn) that can been walked to along the beach in 5 minutes (make sure you book for evening meals). Birdsong all around. The area was very pretty - like south Devon but with big hills, and no people! Great walking locally and beyond - we drove all the way to Port Patrick which is like a pretty little Cornish fishing port but without the crowds. Galaway Forest beautiful and mountainous. Went north to Multiverse attraction in Crawick though lovely countryside and back via spectacular Mennock Pass (B797). The people we did meet were really friendly. Two great local Farm Shops within 30 minutes drive, and everything else you would want in Dumfries. Our dachshund loved chasing the rabbits on the beach (don't worry he never catches anything). Can't wait to return.
All good.

Well presented lodge in beautiful peaceful surroundings, right beside the beach and quick walk to somewhere nice to eat out

Really quiet, all the facilities you need and everything cleaned before arrival. Owners visited on second day to see if everything was OK and they were very friendly.
Will definitely be back next year
There is an outside barbecue which is an excellent idea, but I think it probably needs replacing. However, overall had a lovely stay for the second year running.

Fabulous location and lovely log burner to keep warm and snug.
The views are magnificent and the cottage very comfortable.
Could have done with some kindling to get the log burner going. Plenty of logs.
