La Casina dei Frati

This place is incredible. Perfect Tuscany vibes with a stone house renovated to the highest standard and with great taste, a garden (where you have your own private area to sit outside and admire the view), flowers and plants everywhere. Saw a deer eyeing the house one morning just a few meters away! The hosts are great, the lady (Antonietta) speaks English and is extremely kind and forthcoming with local tips or anything you need. It is great value, and only a short drive up from the village and from Lucca. You do need a car to come and go but it's really worth it. And I can't say enough about the area: Lucca and the surroundings are a dream. Will be back for sure!

The only thing to note is that there is no AC. I know the locals are comfortable with this (and there are ceiling fans and mosquito nets, so it is manageable) but we stayed during a massive heatwave (38C every day) and it was pretty tough for us city people :) In less extreme weather it is perfectly fine I'm sure and some people don't mind the heat, but I still thought it's fair to point it out. It does cool down at night, so we could sleep fine but during the day it was pretty sticky :) That said, the positives of the place more than make up for this!

Das liebevoll eingerichtete Haus ist von einem schönen Garten umgeben. Die Gastgeber sind sehr zuvorkommend. Die Lage ist wunderbar ruhig. Wir mögen es so sehr, dass wir schon zum zweiten Mal dort waren.

Traumhaft schön, sehr entspannend, weg vom Stress, sehr Grosszügig. Gastgeber sehr freundlich und würden jeder Zeit wieder buchen.
