The independent house (170 m2) with garden house (30 m2) and garden (900 m2) is located in the romantic Alpine village Grainau (near Garmisch) at the foot of Zugspitze, just 1 minute walk to the Zugspitze cable car. The house belongs to the famous professional rock climber and adventurer Stefan Glowacz and is modern with Shabby Chic and industrial furniture (website hidden) is quietly located close to the spa / swimming pool with great view of the mountains. In the main house there are 4 bedrooms (8 beds) and 2 bathrooms spread over 3 floors. Next door on the same property, there is another large living-bedroom (2 beds) with private bathroom and TV and sofa. The main house has a lovely, open plan living kitchen merging in to a large dining room with fireplace and sunny living room in the conservatory with TV. Wi-Fi is available in the entire house. In front of the living room there is a large patio on the south side with a view of Zugspitze. The house has a basement with plenty of storage space for skis, bikes etc. and a yard for 2 cars. Bank, bakery, grocery stores, pharmacy and swimming pool are very close by. The location is ideal for winter and summer sports, like skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, etc.

This house in Grainau turned out to be everything we hoped for when scouting for a property out of which to base our southern Bavaria activities. The property owner/manager was extremely helpful and friendly. The house itself is light and spacious with hip, comfortable décor and comes with a fully furnished kitchen and a clothes washer/dryer and private parking. Moreover, it is situated in a gorgeous setting, with the nearby mountains visible through the many windows. The constantly changing mountain scenery alone was worth the stay. The property's location in Grainau offered easy walking to outstanding restaurants, hiking trails, the Zugspitzbahn, etc., and is only a few minutes drive from Garmisch-Partinkirchen and an easy drive to Munich - and even closer to the other countless not-to-miss attractions in the area such as Ettal Abbey, Andechs monastery, Weiskirche, Schloss Linderhof, etc., not to mention Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. I would definitely rent this property again and, in fact, look forward to doing so.

We stayed for one week in July and absolutely loved the setting, the town, and the house. Plenty of rooms, clean and comfortable. Very close to everything (train, the most beautiful community pool, music hall, restaurants). I would come again!

We stayed for 2 weeks and only wish it could have been longer. The house is delightful and had everything we needed for a great family holiday. Grainau is fantastics for families with a wonderful pool, lots of restaurants and beautiful hiking trails. Annaliese was a wonderful host and couldn't have been more accomodating. Had a great time and would strongly recommend.

A brilliant location for the skiing in the area and the house is fabulous. The decor is very tasteful with all the necessary utensils to feel like you are in your own home. Our kids are now also budding rock climbers because of Stefan! There is no doubt in my mind that we will be back. Thank you Anneliese for making us feel welcome without being overbearing in any way.

We had a lovely time. The house is funky and comfortable at the same time and easily accommodated 6 adults and 6 children under 7. The facilities in the house are just what is needed - washing machine and dryer were very much needed! The ski train is only a 3-5 minute walk and goes quickly to the ski slopes. There are good restaurants in Grainau and the area is beautiful. We will definitely be returning.

Our family of 10 stayed at Ferienhaus Stefan Glowacz for a week and the accommodations were wonderful. The location was perfect for doing a variety of activities - you can easily get to the cities of Munich and Innsbruk or simply enjoy the countryside and small villages. Grainau is ideal in that it is a small town but has ample shops and restaurants. Our family of 10 is two grandparents, 5 adults and 3 five year old children. The house was very comfortable and well maintained. The separate cottage gave the grandparents a place to find "alone time" when needed. Our host, Anneliese Trechsler, was accommodating and responsive to my inquires. I look forward to my next visit to Bavaria and would highly recommend Ferienhaus Stefan Glowacz

Exquisitely maintained, beautiful house with a stunning view of the Alps. We had a cool and sometimes rainy week and really valued the house all that much more, especially the "winter garden" (glassed in porch). We spent a lot of time in that room, enjoying the Fussbodenheizung (floor radiant heat). The kitchen was well equipped, the interaction with the property manager was very smooth and she accomodated our communication preferences (email). You can tell that a professional designer put love into this place, with many nice touches. Within sight of the house is the Musikpavillon, where several evenings of Bavarian entertainment happened, with parades right by the house preceding all of them. The Zugspitzbahn is a 3 minute walk, as is a bike rental place, and the public swimming pool. Grainau is a nice old town with several restaurants and shops that still adhere to "Mittagspause" (closing between 12 and 2:30 for lunch. There's lots of hiking and gliding and climbing and mini golf. Only suggestion: I'd recommend getting different (smaller, firmer) pillows to complement the huge ones on the beds.

This house worked out very well for us. We had 7 people, a mix of couples and kids, and we were all very comfortable in the bedrooms. The patio outside and the dining table inside both made great places for us to gather for meals and games and simply sitting around enjoying the view.
The train station was very close and convenient for getting to Garmisch, Alpspitz and Zugspitze. We also did a lot of walking around Grainau, but the town is quite small. The sleepy little town did make sitting outside pleasantly peaceful. Clanking cowbells from the local mountainside added to the ambience.
The furnishings and appliances were in great, almost new condition. We had everything we needed to make and serve meals and do a little laundry.
Overall it's a great place to spend a week in the Bavarian Alps.

My family and I stayed at this house while traveling Through Europe this summer, and I can easily say this was the highlight of the entire trip. The house itself is beautiful - very clean and bright, while still very warm and homey. The pictures here really don't do it justice. There is a fairly sizeable yard with a sweet little garden and deck in the back, from which you have an astonishing view of the mountains. The fifth bedroom is detached from the rest of the house and is very private, with it's own bathroom and sitting area - which was very nice for my parents, who met us there. Within walking distance is a bakery, butchery, and general store, should you want to do your own cooking in the house. For the kids, there's a small waterpark and miniature golf course nearby, and an ice-cream shop down the road. In the evenings, there were open-air concerts for the public at the music hall across the street. A Cog-Wheel train station is also within meters of the house, which we rode to the top of the Zugspitz and went sledding!I would definitely rent this house again, and I recommend it to anyone else traveling in the area.
