About this house rental
Undiscovered Paradise: A spacious apartment, 100 meters from the sea. Perfect place for relaxation. You will enjoy seclusion, peace and isolated beaches with clean sand and crystal-clear waters. The nearest beach from the house is a 2 minute walk. Other than the weekends, during which more locals are present, the beach is generally uncrowded. It is also ideal if one likes to snorkel and explore the marvelous sights under the sea.
Furthermore in the vicinity, there are the ruins of Lasaea, an ancient city also mentioned in the Bible. In a distance of just five miles at the west, there is the natural port of Kaloi Limenes or “Fair Havens”. According to local legend as well as biblical scholars,it is asserted that Apostle Paul, in whose name a small church was built therein the 1960s), landed at Kaloi Limenes to preach the Christian faith in Crete.
Crisostomos is an excellent starting point to explore the whole of Southern Crete, including many wonderful beaches of Kaloi Limenes, Agiofaraggo, Kefali, Matala and Lendas.

While we were a little surprised at the ruggedness of the trail to the beach, everything else was wonderful. John was friendly, responsive to our requests, a very gracious host. Lots of little amenities to make our stay easy.

John and Effie were the perfect hosts. We had a long drive at night to get to the property from the airport but it was worth it. I can't say enough about our hosts they even checked on us halfway through our week and brought us more goodies.

The house is as pictured, just above a nice beach with very few people (and two transats available). A warning: the last bit of road to reach it is very steep and not in a good state, with our rental car we couldn't take it - but there is space to park above which is a few minutes away then. If you can rent a Jeep or something higher, it's better to manage the road ;)
From there we could reach the Phaistos palace, the folk arts museum and the site of Gortyna. By the beach a restaurant is reachable with a nice terrace. Best to do some groceries before arriving or during the day as shops are further away from the house. We really appreciated that the hosts filled the fridge with breakfast items on the first day, and came again during the week to offer a delicious cake and some more raki - thanks for that!
All in all, we had a nice stay, taking the breakfast on the terrace looking at the sea is very nice and we enjoyed the quietness. A good choice if you want to avoid the crowds!

Soooooo good. We love the place, the hosts Efi and their parents and the calm beach. Nice area, REALLY nice hosts. So sad we had to leave. It was wonderful! See you, Daniel.
