Villa "L'Olivier" Hourtin-plage 50 m from the ocean - Free access to water park

Fantastic villa, well appointed and the little touches like welcome pack and shampoo made it feel special. Smart tv (Netflix et al) but we tended to use the provided family games in the evening on the decking. Communications with both Muriel and the owner were excellent, yes there were some challenges with the electricity board tripping, but I have sympathies, French electricians like having long summer holidays and it was a minor thing, not major and essential. Location is special. 2 mins walk from the beach (huge and good for surfing), 3 mins walk from the beach restaurants and bar. The mixture of lake (10min drive) and beach was great for us. Ability to use the eurocamp water park would be handy for those with younger children Extended family of 9 and we were very comfortable. Bordeaux accessible for a day trip in the car (park and ride) along with vineyards Definitely have Hourtin Plage on our list of places to revisit!

L’accueil des propriétaires était chaleureux, ils habitent près de la propriété ce qui permet de nous assister facilement au besoin. Parfait pour vacances en familles-amis. A 2 pas de la plage.

Just came back from a lovely couple of weeks in France. We stayed at this house for one week. The beach is literally next door. You can reach the sands in 30 seconds and beach in 2 minutes..... The house is very near to few decent eateries. Supermarket is about 5-6 minutes walk and next to it is the water park (entry for the whole family is free!). Beach is lovely and long surrounded by sand dunes and greenery. Great place for the adults, teens and kids. About the house:The house consists of 4 bedrooms - with large bathrooms and toilets - 3 bedrooms are downstairs and one upstairs with a balcony with rattan furniture - very cosy. Open plan kitchen and a laundry room. Outside a gas fired BBQ and a Pizza oven! we gave it a go to the Pizza oven, managed to ace it in couple of tries. House has large TV (65 i think) and Bose sound system. Need I say more? :) - Car parking for 2 cars - alarm and sliding automatic gate. Muriel: Our contact with Muriel started before we left. She is very very helpful and always forthcoming with ideas. Muriel responds to all the request very quickly. She is very good natured person. Owner: Another very helpful person. It was very hot one day and we were struggling with the heat - so we requested if it is possible to have a fan and in no time we had 4. Ah bless her! Kids had a super great time too.So what are the drawbacks:Hmm...its difficult to find any, however for the sake of completeness, Ill moan about the broadband speed. It is really slow and we had a day or two of interruption where there was no broadband or cellular service in the whole town! You can however argue that you should be outside and not glued to the screen :) All in all a great experience - a beautifully decorated house with all the facilities (big fridge, coffee maker, washing machine, dryer, kettle, recliners etc.) - Would definitely recommend. We were 2 families of size 9 (4 adults, 5 kids of age 8-9) and the house is just right for this size.
