La Grande Maison

A Wonderful Gem in Rural France ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We absolutely loved our stay at La Grande Maison — a real gem in rural France! Christian is a fantastic host: warm, welcoming, funny and incredibly attentive. He prepared us a delicious four-course dinner with wine, which we enjoyed in the beautiful, peaceful grounds. There’s also a lovely plunge pool that looked very tempting in the hot weather! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with fresh breads, croissants and pastries. A special mention to Christian’s granddaughter, Jan, who was wonderfully friendly and helpful. She kept us entertained with her lovely conversation and was absolutely brilliant with our dog! The accommodation was beautiful, with an exceptionally comfortable bed and a modern, well-equipped bathroom. The house itself is full of fascinating artefacts and treasures from Christian’s travels, giving it so much character and charm. Christian even showed us some of the renovations he has undertaken, which gave us a real appreciation of the love and creativity that have gone into this beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will absolutely be returning. We would highly recommend La Grande Maison to friends — wonderful hospitality, beautiful surroundings and a truly memorable experience. A fabulous place with fabulous hosts! ❤️🇫🇷

Localisation idéale pour découvrir: Carcassonne, Mirepoix, châteaux Cathares, Fanjeaux, Limoux, Canal du midi, etc.... Merci à Christian pour son accueil sympathique et ses conseils avisés. Maison et jardin très agréables. Idéal pour un séjour au calme et visiter la région.

Bedrooms were large and spacious, quiet location

Great building in a nice quiet village. The rooms are generally ok, a bit small, with decent shower. The bed was comfortable.

The guest facilities could do with an update. A simple upgrade (bought from IKEA) could update all bedding (new pillows), towels etc. When we asked for a hard pillow, the owner seemed aggrieved. The breakfast was very weak. A croissant, several slices of toast and a yogurt for €9. We noticed that another guest received a cooked breakfast, we were not offered one.
