Excellent value will stay here again

The standard was maintained throughout from the booked lunch on Sunday which was excellent, we have eaten there before, to the standard of the room where we have not stayed before. The room was immaculate being offered fresh milk was a bonus. The breakfast continued the same level as to the food the previous day great quality, cooked to perfection with careful presentation.

Excellent stay in this ideally located hotel

Warmth of the greeting from the dedicated parking area. The decor and the equipment in the room, dressing gown coffee maker etc plus the offer of fresh milk. Food and the cooked breakfast to die for - especially thick streaky bacon. Central location with easy access to church and market

Excellent all round!

All the staff, from the bar staff to waiting staff and even the cleaner were absolutely amazing. Very helpful and friendly. The food was exceptional. I would drive 200 miles just to have the venison dish again! Superb breakfast.

Perfect in every way.

The staff were friendly and efficient; our room was clean and comfortable; the breakfast was excellent as was the dinner we enjoyed; the location was perfect for exploring the town of Tavistock; all in all we would highly recommend the Cornish Arms and we will certainly stay there again if we go back to Tavistock.

If you like it quiet stay somewhere else

Ear plugs were provided for free in the room which I thought was strange until it was time to sleep. Then I realised why the noise from the street including people and cars was horrendous. Further exacerbated by rowdy customers coming back to their rooms with no consideration for anyone else.

Quality B&B accommodation conveniently located within the town centre

The Cornish Arms is a bit more expensive than other B&B accommodation but as soon as you arrive you soon realise why you are paying a little extra. The premises are impressive in terms of decor and atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming and helpful on arrival, that's a good start. They then show you to your room (we stayed in 'Toad'). As soon a you enter you know you have made the right decision to stay at The Cornish Arms. It's clean, it's tastefully decorated, it's spacious, the bathroom for once is big and has natural light. Extras include bathrobes, usual tea & coffee, pieces of cake and even ear plugs! The bed is the biggest I have slept in and very comfortable. Breakfast too was of a high standard and the staff very polite and attentive. There are a few dedicated parking spaces for residents, I counted seven and that should mean you will have a parking space. These spaces are immediately behind the pub and adjacent to Russell Street public car park so you have that option too. It would be worth entering Russell Street into your sat nav as parking at the front of The Cornish Arms is not that practical. A great experience and having had that experience we would not hesitate to book again.

Advise guests in advance to head for Russell Street car park in order to access the rear of The Cornish Arms where their on site car parking spaces are located.

Noisy room as we were on the front Next time we will ask to be at the back A little fridge in the room would be nice to keep drinks and medication chilled . Apart from that it was perfect and we can't wait to return.

A really lovely room which was comfy and clean. We had a roast which was delicious and also breakfast in the morning which was probably one of the nicest full English breakfasts we have both ever had! The place has a really nice atmosphere, I’d absolutely recommend.

Wish we had longer.

Rooms are beautiful and breakfast was lovely. Staff are friendly. Stayed several times before and would definitely stay again.

Bit noisy because we were on the street side and had the window open but they did provide ear plugs next to the bed and it didn’t go on late. Can’t really expect absolute quiet in a town location.

Lovely room and restaurant - but do not stay at the weekend due to very noisy nightclub nextdoor

Lovely clean room - excellent bar and restaurant.

The Cornish arms is located right next door to a nightclub. Our bedroom wall was directly adjoining the wall of the nightclub, and from 10pm to 2am on the Saturday night that we stayed, our room was filled with horrendous incredibly loud pumping drum and bass sounds from the club music. Even with the room TV on super loud we could not drown out the thumping bass. We could not go to sleep until after the club had closed and all the shouting in the street directly below our bedroom window had stopped once the bouncers had moved on the drunken clubbers. At breakfast the next morning the first thing the waiter asked was how did you sleep, and sorry for the clubbing next door!

Absolutely stunning! Really beautiful building, lots of character and attention to detail in the decor was really spot on.

The only negative is the noise outside! They do provide earplugs but this did make for a disturbed nights sleep as the windows are old fashioned. If you want a quiet nights sleep avoid booking over a weekend, the noise from street revellers went on well into the early hours of the morning.

Expensive but pleasant.

Staff were very friendly and our room was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee provided and some lovely homemade fruit flapjack. We had a lovely cooked breakfast the following morning.

The shower sprays water out into the room and then collected by the door despite having a shower mat down. We had asked for secure parking for our bikes, but found out this was not an allocated space but in their food storage area. Also, evening food over priced, nearly £6 for a small dish of peas !!!

Lovely boutique hotel with exceptional food.

The breakfast and the Sunday lunch were exceptional. The best roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese l have ever eaten.

Air con in the room would help enormously. We were given a fan, but to draw in any cool air we needed to have the window open. On the first night is was very noisy from people outside the kebab shop opposite

One for your bucket list

Evening meal and breakfast was good, the real ale was superb, signs of a good kept cellar by someone who knows what there doing .

Maybe some kind of bannister when coming downstairs from your room, my wife suffers with MS and struggled with not a lot to support her ( the staff had no knowledge of her MS ) I felt unsteady myself when carrying luggage downstairs. No-one asked how our food or stay was .

Exceptional Accommodation, & friendly & efficient staff, right in town.

The accommodation area is tastefully decorated & in excellent condition. Attention to detail in the bedroom first class, right down to things like positioning of plug points & light switches. Quality bedding, and lovely fluffy towels, plus provision of some nice toiletries. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had in a hotel.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Tavistock. Great restaurant and menu. The street can be noisy on weekends but quiet otherwise. We were not disturbed. Private parking was most welcome. Great access for Dartmoor.

Very little. We stayed on a baank holiday weekend and had a room at the front. There was a lot of unpleasant rowdieness on Saturday night in the street into the early hours but nothing to do wth the hotel. When we revisit we will request a back room but the Cornsh Arms is our choice for our return visits.

Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished. The bed was very comfortable and a good size. The breakfast was delicious. Lots of choice and the staff were so friendly and welcoming.

It’s a beautiful old property decorated to a high standard with themed rooms. Gorgeous amenities, sumptuous soft furnishings and a homely, rustic style. Staff were amazing; friendly, helpful and genuinely happy to speak with guests, showing real interest and remembering individual’s orders, as well as, remembering details of our days. Absolutely faultless
