I strongly suggest Maria’s place to anyone is going to the center/south of Crete. Is strategic for the most beautiful and less touristic beaches of this wonderful island. The house is absolutely wonderful. Clean, with all you need there. With a wonderful swimming pool. Really quiet (you are alone in a super safe place). Cretan people likes to feel you part of their family. And Maria is absolutely a leader on this. It is clear that she and her family puts all her love in this house. And she is one of the best host I ever met. Thanks a lot!!!! I will suggest this place to anyone who is planning to go to south Crete. Last…. About Tabernas… I cannot judge which is the best one. But there are plenty of places around triopetra. One better than the other. Maria… I’ll come back again whenever I’ll have holidays in Crete.

Fabulous villa and pool in lovely quiet location.

Maria’s Place had everything we needed to have a brilliant relaxing holiday. The swimming pool was a highlight and the villa was lovely.

Perfect family size vacation house, excellent value for the money.

First of all the host, Maria, deserves a 10+++, which lifts the overall result of the property to a 9,50. But you cannot chose 9,50 as a grade for the property, so it gets a 10 from our side. She is very careful that you have everything you need, without being intrusive. She could teach other hosts about hospitality. The house is perfect for a family traveling with their kids. It is the size of a fair 2 bedroom apartment, each bedroom with it's own bathroom, with a nice, large kitchen and a common place to have dinner. But "la pièce de résistance" is the terrace which includes a nice swim pool nice sun beds with umbrellas, an outdoor table and a grill. It's almost like having a second outdoor living room, which includes a swim pool. The terrace only has a view to the mountain, there is no view to the Libyan Sea from the property. The whole property is located inside an olive tree orchard, but one of the sides is next to a road. However this is not such a big issue, as there are very few cars passing by. This is not a luxury house, so those who are looking for luxury conditions should be aware and look further, but it's a perfect place for a family vacation with a reasonable budget.

The mattress inside the larger bedroom could be upgraded. The water taps should be revised.

Peaceful retreat, yet close to beaches and tavernas.

Loved the privacy of the location; so quiet, and the view of the mountains is spectacular! Even though we felt we were in the middle of nowhere, it was a quick and easy drive to many local beaches. House had everything we needed, was comfortable and clean. The outside area was great for relaxing, with several sun loungers and umbrellas. The pool looked great, but as it had been super windy the water was too cold for me (I definitely like my water warm!). There were several good tavernas within an easy drive. Love that the house is pet friendly! Maria welcomed us and our dog to her house, and was helpful and easy to contact.

Quiet location, lovely view of the mountain

We stayed at this villa for a week. For the first couple of days the weather was warm and calm, and we enjoyed the swimming pool. The water is very cold so can only use it for a quick dip. The loungers are very comfortable, solid and high quality, so much enjoyed relaxing by the pool. Unfortunately, the other days was so windy, so we couldn’t enjoy the outside space due to the intense wind. The setting of the villa is nice and quiet, with a fantastic view of the mountain. The villa is next to a road, but the road is very quiet and used mainly by the farmer. The bed in the main room was king size and very comfortable, and all the rooms were a good size, including the bathroom.

We did notice some maintenance issues, which could be resolved. We were surprised and disappointed initially the location of the villa was not 200m to the beach as stated on the listing, and not walking distance. Its about 2km up a steep hill, 5 mins by car. It turned out not to be an issue for us as we enjoyed being away from the crowd and the view of the mountain.

A best-ever villa

A good pool that was not overlooked, had a glorious mountain view and was protected from the wind. The peaceful location in an olive grove and with little traffic on the narrow road outside (we loved the procession of goats back from milking). The 5-minute journey to the two beaches and their choice of tavernas. The fact that it was well equipped (inc microwave and filter coffee machine) and everything worked. A sturdy gate that is opened electronically offers security.

Unless you have satnav with Google co-ordinates, the property is difficult to find, as there is no signage. The delightful Maria can guide you in if necessary - take the left road signed Vasilis taverna, then turn uphill at the high wall by the goat farm. There is no information inside about the property (but you can phone/ WhatsApp Maria) or the locality (research using the good wi-fi). The nearest small supermarkets are at Spili, Agia Galini and Kerames. As they can only be reached by tricky mountain roads, it is best to stock up before arrival and whenever you pass by.

Paradise on earth

We had exactly what we needed for a relaxing, quiet holiday, near the nature, only two minutes drive to the lovely beach of Triopetra. There are many other beautiful beaches in a short distance.The owners of Marias place are nice and friendly making you feel at home from the first moment. Absoluter Genussurlaub in hervorragender Gegend

Maria, die Vermieterin, war äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend zu uns, zusätzlich konnten wir bei Ihr am "Ligkres-Strand" gratis den Schirm mit Sonnenliegen benutzen. Die Lage im Hinterland des Strandes war hervorragend und sehr ruhig, hier konnte man das Haus mit Pool genießen.

Es gab nichts was uns nicht gefallen hat...

Ein Haus zum wohl fühlen, Meer und Strand abseits der Massen, einige nette Tavernen - reicht doch!

Maria Place liegt recht einsam inmitten von Olivenhainen. Wer die Ruhe sucht ist hier richtig! Und wer seinen Urlaub textilfrei verbringen möchte auch, es ist ringsum niemand. Die Straße nebenan ist kaum befahren. Es gibt einen ganz toller Ausblick auf die Berge. Das Haus ist nett und sauber, es ist alles vorhanden was man braucht um sich wohl zu fühlen. Und das Pool war ein Traum um sich zu erfrischen. Maria ist eine ganz liebe Gastgeberin! Sie hat einen Schirm- und Liegestuhlverleih am Ligresbeach.

Das sind nur Anmerkungen: Die Windräder am Berg zeigen es: hier ist ein Gebiet mit Wind - und wir hatten es Ende Juni sehr windig. Sie benötigen ein Auto und etwas Erfahrung mit schmalen, steilen Straßen. Der Strand ist 7 Min, nächste Supermarkt ist 17 Min. entfernt, - mit dem Auto - also nix vergessen!

Gepflegter Bungalow im ruhigen Landesinneren mit langem Fußweg zum Strand

Der Bungalow ist ansprechend eingerichtet, die Lage in der Nähe vom Triopetrastrand für Ruhesuchende und Individualurlauber geeignet. Insgesamt saubere und gepflegte Anlage und für griechische Verhältnisse gute Küchenausstattung.

Bei der Buchung war eine andere Ortsangabe in 750m Strandnähe mit anderen Koordinaten angegeben, als wie es dann in der Realität war. Natürlich konnten man so bei Anreise die Anlage nicht finden. Die Besitzerin holte dann vom besagten Standort ab und fuhr dann zur Unterkunft landeinwärts voraus. Tatsächlich lag das Anwesen dann gute 30 min Fußweg weg vom Strand. Zur Rede gestellt war es dann ein "nicht erklärbarer Fehler" bei Booking.com. Man hätte halt alle Bewertungen lesen müssen! Das Anwesen befindet sich eher im Landesinneren, sehr ruhig gelegen. Dummerweise liegt der beschattete Außenbereich direkt an der Straße, auch das kleinere Schlafzimmer. Eins von zwei Bädern ist eher nur eine Toilette mit Notdusche. Häufiger starker Wind muss auch gefallen. Der Bitte nach einer angemessenen Entschädigung für die nicht vorhandene Strandnähe und den doch eher hohen Preis konnte von der Besitzerin leider nicht entsprochen werden.
