A nice, well located hotel but horribly overpriced at this time of year.

Very well located with friendly helpful staff

Unfortunately I booked a night during the Andre Rieu concert period where the price of the room was truly astronomical compared to its normal price. I know the price difference because I originally and accidentally booked the same date for 2026! So any true review is going to have that context to it. So for a “normal” price hotel it was very pleasant and lovely. For a hotel four times that price it would have to meet some pretty serious expectations and in which case it was clean and sparse. If I had one question mark regardless of the price, I would say my duvet cover did not smell fresh as other hotels I have stayed in.

Good Location , friendly staff

I stayed in room 19 and unfortunately had a very uncomfortable experience. There is no lift, the windows are not soundproof, and the noise from the nearby bar made it nearly impossible to sleep. The room itself was also very small.

'We'll be back'

We had breakfast included in the price we paid paid but when we saw the size of what they brought out to the couple on the next table we decided that as fantastic as it looked we would have to go back to bed after eating it all to recover. So we chose the greek yogurt and granola with a variety of fresh fruit which also turned out to be a huge serving but excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and thankfully all spoke English because our Dutch is abysmal. A great 8 night stay in Maastricht, walked too much, ate too much and probably drank too much but would definitely return to both city and the Alex. Thank you for an enjoyable holiday.

Would have liked a tea towel for drying the odd pot as there was no point putting the dishwawher on for a couple of plates etc Just checked listing of what is included in the Deluxe Double Studio inventory and it mentions an ironing board and iron which appeared to be missing whilst we we there. I guess we could have requested one if required but as ironing is the last thing we want to do on holiday and we didn't have any clothes with us that required ironing it wasn't a problem but other guests may wish to use one.

Great little hotel amazingly close to the train station and easy to get into the town.

We stayed in room 12. The room was small, but the bed was massive and very comfortable. The bathroom was extremely clean and well maintained. The design/décor of the hotel was very cool. The staff were amazing - very welcoming (as all the Dutch we met were) and helpful.

Room 12 was small,, but big enough to fit the massive bed. It didn't have facilities to make your own drinks (others did) and the hair dryer wasn't brilliant. On the Saturday there was a pop up trance-street party at the bar next door. It went on all day and completely ruined the atmosphere. We felt very sorry for the staff, who had to endure it for hours; you could tell they felt very bad for the guests too. Thankfully it ended by 10pm (the hotel manager correctly advised that the permit expired then, don't panic from the AI searches on Google).

Everything. Alex is a little gem at a great location in Maastricht. We stayed in one on the smaller rooms which was very comfortable, bright, and spotless clean. Breakfast is super and staff are very welcoming and helpful.

Nice place for a city trip to Maastricht

Nice location with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops in direct proximity - perfect starting point to explore the town. Our room was nice, spacious and clean. The dinner at the hotel was tasty and good value, so was the breakfast. Good and friendly service.

Steep stairs and no elevator - guests with physical limitations should make sure to get a room on the lower floor.

Quirky and comfortable room in historic hotel with great food and ideal location.

I liked everything about this property. The location downtown is ideal being two blocks from both the train station and a parking garage. The bar/restaurant was excellent. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, great chef. The room was great, full of character, comfortable, and very quiet for being downtown and above a bar. We had a room with a balcony, which was fun and relaxing. One caveat: we were there in the cool of spring so it might be a lot louder in summer with doors and windows open. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

No elevator but we were fine using the (steep) stairs.

Not the place to stay if you plan on sleeping

The place was clean.

The hotel has a bar nextdoor and poor soundproofing. During our stay, the bar next door was extremely loud until 1 am (and just normal loud after that...), so it was a very bad experience. We called the front desk a couple of times after midnight to ask what could be done about the noise, but nothing could be done, they did not change us to another room and didn't have earplugs.

Needed to change room as original room noisy. Manager Luca couldn't have been more helpful. The rest of our stay was even better. We will be back.
