A very well equipped holiday home with a barn area available for games and drying clothes, which was an useful addition. The owner was very helpful with information about the house and area and rang to ensure that the house was in good condition

The property was in a lovely location on the edge of Kames, on a hill with fabulous views north across the Kyles of Bute.Communication with the property owner was excellent and always helpful. The directions given were spot on.The house was extremely well equipped. We enjoyed relaxing in the upstairs room watching the scenery change with the weather. There were some good walks in the area and Kames was a lovely village with a good shop/post office. The Kames Hotel had a good menu and service was friendly and efficient ( make sure you book especially on a Friday. Further afield it was easy to visit Bute (nice castle in Rothesay) and Kilmartin Glen (highly recommend for the museum and visiting the cairns/standing stones/rock art in the area).Highly recommend this property, we had a great stay.

Delightful cottage in beautiful setting. Very comfortable with a lovely feel to the house. Great kitchen. We were party of 8 and had plenty of room without the house feeling overly big. Had the best mussels and fresh fish delivery from Fynest Fish and wonderful walks. Very much recommend Glenan Bay woodland walks (by Portavadie) and Kilfinan community woodland (at Tighnabruich).

Four Winds was a great base for walking and kayaking. Recommend visiting Otter Ferry for supper and crabbing. Lots of wildlife, good place for bird watching, loved the room upstairs for the view and board games. Very well equipped kitchen, homely feel to the house. We were lucky to have fabulous weather, not what I was expecting on my first visit to Scotland. Great. Thank you

This is a fantastic property. So well located for all that the Cowan peninsula has to offer (lots), and such a great property. It really is ‘home from home’, probably the best we have stayed in in terms of being so well equipped.
Whilst there were only two of us staying, it is such a vast property that you could easily fit 2 families in and not feel squashed.it is so warm and cosy and just has a lovely feel to it.
We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough; the owners clearly care about their guests and want you to love it as much as they do.

Very nice and remote place. The house is in a nice little village with a small shopping store and an award winnnig restaurant (Tide and Thyme). The kitchen in the house is well equipped, so that cooking for bigger groups is fun! We enjoyed our stay!

Our family enjoyed a peaceful week at Four Winds in the quiet Kames area of Scotland (west highlands). We would gladly return!
The house was reassuringly clean when we arrived, and it was equipped with everything we needed to manage comfortably: great kitchen, bathrooms, and sitting areas, plus washer/drier, board games, DVDs, books, maps, ping pong table, fenced garden and parking area.
The views of fields, village, and loch were lovely, and the host was wonderfully communicative before our arrival and afterwards. We ate some good meals in town and enjoyed visiting local beaches and forest trails.
We needed a car to get there and travel the area, but we saw many cyclists, walkers, and sailors as well. Enjoy!

After a busy week touring London and Edinburgh we were very thankful for a few days at the Four Winds in Kames to take it a bit easier. The house was lovely and the views were amazing. We enjoyed the space, stocked kitchen and having a glass of wine in the backyard. We spent an afternoon playing golf on the course near the house and were lucky enough to have it to ourselves (especially for our kids). Everyone in the town was so friendly and helpful. We wished we could have stayed longer to explore more, but we were also very content to walk around town, enjoy a couple meals out and take in the beautiful scenery. Adrien was also very communicative and great to work with. Highly recommend!

Four Winds is set in the most beautiful location on an Argyll peninsula with views across to Bute. Walks straight from the doorstep onto the golf course and several other very local walks including the beach at Ostel Bay which was perfect for us and our 2 dogs.
The house itself is immaculate, very well equiped with more games and jigsaws than I've ever seen in any holiday house (and there have been many!). The kitchen has everything you'd ever need, the only very slight issue is it's so well equiped there is very little space for food for 6 for a week. We just moved things around a little, the 2 fridges were an added bonus and we filled both!
If you want a get away from it all with amazing walks, enjoy coffee and the most amazing home made cakes then this house has all of these on it's door step. Try out Argyll Coffee Roasters and Wild Kitchen for the best coffee and cake you will ever taste! And all of the other cafes we visited also sold their products.
Four Winds was exactly what we all needed, a week chilling out in a stunning setting.

This property is a home from home. It is extremely well equipped with all the cooking equipment needed to make meals for 8 adults and lots of extras - hand wash, lots of dishwasher tabs, rinse aid etc.
3 bedrooms have en -suite and the 4th is opposite the main bathroom.
The loft area is fantastic and provided a tranquil area for my daughter to work from home while downstairs the sitting room with tv and glorious large kitchen with utility room had a huge table which could easily seat 10 and a high chair.
There is also a barn with table tennis , darts and swing ball.
The views are perfect and lots of advice about where to eat in this beautifully unspoilt part of Scotland.

We had a great time in this comfortable spacious holiday home. It was perfect for two families with older teenagers and two dogs with a secure garden.
Well equipped kitchen with everything we needed including pizza pans for birthday pizza night.
It was lovely to have the light upstairs living room for reading or playing board games.
We didn’t need to use the cars much and just explored the immediate area. Ferry across to Tarbert for fish and chips, beach day at Kilbride bay, cake and coffee in Tighnabruaich with a visit to the gallery. The teenagers were delighted to find the secondhand shop too.

We booked this cottage based on the location and surrounding scenery. The cottage had everything required for 8 people to stay. The views from the upstairs lounge can only be summed up as spectacular. We appeared to be very lucky with the weather and managed to use the bbq every day for either lunch or dinner. The garden was ideal for the 2 dogs to run around and was enclosed all the way round so no need to be constantly watching the dogs and believe me if there was a way to escape our 2 would have found it. The outbuilding had a table tennis table, dart board and swing ball which kept us amused most evenings. The location of the cottage is perfect for walking to pubs and restaurants, with only a short drive to some of the other fine eateries in the surrounding area. With 2 dogs we were not short of places to walk either in the woods or at the beaches. Adrian the owner appeared while we were staying and can only be described as a lovely man, who obviously cares passionately about his guests and their experience at the cottage. Thank you - we will hopefully be back

My family and I had a fantastic break at Four Winds.
The house is very comfortable, spacious, cosy and very well equipped with anything you could need for your stay. We enjoyed walks through the golf course next door, as well as the short walk to the village of Kames and the seafront. Closeby we visited Donoon, Kilbride Beach and the Giant's Armchair for wonderful views.
The upstairs living area is very relaxing with fantastic views. We also enjoyed the many board games, as well as the table tennis and darts in the shed!
I would definitely recommend Four Winds and Adrian was a pleasure to deal with.

Superb property, equipped to the highest standard with everything you need, in a great setting. We enjoyed a weeks stay in October and had a great family holiday. We had a treat one morning watching deer run right past the house. Shame about the weather, but we didn’t let it stop us getting out and about., the dogs loved it too. We also enjoyed a meal at the Kames hotel, the food was excellent and the nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who made us and the dogs more than welcome. Highly recommend Four Winds.

Great location, fantastic views, we absolutely loved upstairs, had the perfect meal at tide & thyme , also the takeaway was awesome , local shops well stocked, so being far from a supermarket wasn't a problem, took a ferry to tarbert, which was a great day out, weather was perfect, all in all fabulous, Thank you Adrian for phoning to make sure all was OK, brilliant hosts

The youngest guest was 17, so having two living rooms, a games room and a kitchen diner where we could all easily cater and cook was ideal. Very well-appointed and more than thoroughly equipped. It was all very comfortable from the cosy downstairs TV lounge to the bright and airy upstairs viewing lounge. We appreciated having three en-suites and a bathroom. This is a very well tended property.

Beautiful just beautiful
We had an amazing stay at Four winds it was a total home from home and the owners had thought of absolutely everything you would ever need while staying there.
Communication was second to none.
We had an amazing time exploring the marina and Kilbride bay ( best beach ever and worth the walk )
Lots to explore in this beautiful part of the country and a lovely trip up from Glasgow with lots of breathtaking scenery.
We couldn’t recommend this property enough as we had three generations staying there and plenty of room for us all to meet together or spend time apart.
Thank you for letting us have a wonderful holiday in your home.

The perfect holiday home
This house and location , with its beautiful view down The Valley to the loch exceeded our expectations. It was ideal for all three generations. Clean bright airy space out and warm inside. Tastefully decorated with an eye for detail. The owners have thought of everything and the house lacks nothing. We loved sitting in he stunning sun lounge morning and night but as the weather was good and we could sit in the spacious garden even that was topped by the natural beauty all around and the glorious view of the loch. Games room was great for the teenagers old and young. It was a great base to explore Argyll’s secret coast.

Exceptional Accommodation
Four Winds is a complete home from home and definitely the best equipped holiday home we have ever visited. It is comfortable and well appointed with countless special touches that make all the difference.
The location is beautiful and tranquil with amazing views. In addition, there are well stocked village shops and various eateries within walking distance. The area has many attractions to visit and is a walkers’ paradise.
The communications with Adrian and Val, the owners, were excellent.
The property is a huge credit to the owners and the housekeeping team.

Stunning views
We were due to visit at Easter 2020 but had to delay twice due to COVID rules. Adrian and Val have been superb throughout and allowed us to move the booking due to the changing COVID rules. Eventually we could visit for Easter 2022 and it was well worth the wait. Stunning views across to Bute and we were blessed with sunshine every day. We went swimming in the heated outdoor pool at Portavadie twice, went to Kilbride beach twice, went on a Boat trip on Loch Fyne to see seals, had a lovely lunch at the Kames Hotel, and went over on the Ferry to Bute and the house at Mount Stuart. The house is perfectly located near to Kames and the views from the upstairs sitting room are amazing. The kids loved the table tennis and swing ball. The beds were all comfy and the kitchen well appointed. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Wonderful Property
Four Winds is a fabulous base to explore all that the Argyll Coast has to offer. There are 4 good sized bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and a very well equipped kitchen with plenty of space for 8 people and rapidly became our hub! The upstairs lounge has been tastefully done and affords amazing views over to Loch Fyne. A lot of people return again and again and we can see why.

A brilliant house for a lovely getaway.
Fabulous, extremely well equipped kitchen - the heart of the house.
Loved all the finishing touches around the house - pictures, soft furnishings etc.
Loads of room for everyone, whether you want to socialise in the bright and airy upstairs lounge or watch a movie in the cosy downstairs snug.

Perfect spot for a long overdue family catch up!
From the start we received excellent communication from the owner including a very thorough introduction to the property a couple of weeks before our stay.
The house itself is wonderfully situated with spectacular views across to Bute. It sits on the edge of a golf course that welcomes walkers and well behaved dogs so it was fabulous to have this space on our doorstep, though the house has its own large front lawn too.
The views from the upstairs living room are magnificent and the bedrooms are all very comfortable with an excellently equipped kitchen too. There was also a games barn with a table tennis table so we enjoyed a healthy dose of family rivalry on our stay! We visited with 2 toddlers so couldn't do much serious walking on our stay but there are some lovely beaches to visit- it was the perfect spot for some family R&R - would highly recommend.
