Wonderful holiday in the Burren but the cottage was shabby and unmaintained

The location

You could feel all the springs in the mattress in the en suite - very uncomfortable. One of the beds in the twin was hard and uncomfortable. The oven was not clean. Some utensils greasy. Glasses not clean. No frying pan. Microwave difficult to use and ancient. Paint peeling inside and out. Whole place very dated. En suite bathroom tiny. Yard uncared for. Sea views blocked by oil store and washing line. Agreed instructions for getting into cottage not followed by owner and did not answer when called. Radiators didn't work in bedrooms. The really sad thing was that comments online and in the visitor book have been highlighting these issues for years but clearly owner and agent have done nothing to remedy the situation.

The cottage is in a great location with exceptional natural beauty. Our host was very helpful and kind, and the cottage is equipped with all the basic equipment anyone could need to prepare meals and snacks. The cottage overall is very cozy. We were there in the winter. I also wish to add that our host was very thoughtful. The cottage was very clean. An added benefit is the neighbors are also very friendly. There is a tiny grocery store in Fanore, but Ballyvaughn has a somewhat bigger store with all the basics. There are many excellent restaurants/pubs within easy driving distance. The cottage is close to the Cliffs of Moher and Aillwee Cave and Bird Sanctuary. Both must sees. The cottage is also framed by the Burren and the sea. You cannot do much better than that!

The cottage overall was wonderful except for the comfort level of the beds. They were are uncomfortably firm to the point where it felt more like sleeping on a box spring than a mattress. Each bed had the same problem. Pillows were provided, but they were also exceptionally firm. Hard on old bones! I would also recommend including a How To List for the heat, the washer and dryer, and the showers. We had lived in the UK and travelled in Europe, so we were able to figure out everything, but someone from the US or Canada, who does not have that level of experience. would find using the equipment to be a bit of a challenge. Of course, the host was more than happy to help with any questions. Just a suggestion.

TV controller is faulty sounds minor but it stopped us watch what we wanted. Relaxing in the evening with a film was not possible

Nice surrounding area but house (kitchen and bathrooms) was not very clean..were dirty.

Thé location of thé housse was perfect with a beautiful view. The housse was well equiped The Host facilitate our arrival and Always answered very quickly to our questions.

We never met our host. And we would like to meet her and also to have some recommandations on what to do and visite around. Also kitchen and bathrooms were dirty and we had to clean it at the begining of our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. We enjoyed everything about it. A lovely cottage for a large family or group of friends. Recommend.

Not a place I would rent again.

The location was convenient for the excursions we planned to do during the tik.eof out stay.

The septic tank of the house was full, and the owner couldn't get it emptied during our stay. So there was a lingering smell throughout the house of sewage. The house boasts three bedrooms, but only one had a functioning radiator. Only when we raised the issue with the owner did a neighbor come to turn them on, with difficulty. As the knobs were gripped shut, having not been opened in a long time. Even one of the radiators had to be bled, to release the built up air! Items in the kitchen were not clean (i.e., hot water kettle), and the fridge freezer was packed with ice. The microwave did not work, and the dishwasher was full of washed dishes. Even the frying pan was placed back with the other pots and pans, yet still covered in grease. So certainly not cleaned! This property turned out to be a big disappointment and certainly not worth the money paid.

Back door left open on arrival. Where the key was left was a bit odd. Main toilet would not flush well, toilet paper just floating around even after three / four flushes. Two bedrooms with no heating. Main light in sitting room had only one bulb working. Smell in the kitchen like grease when I entered first. Crumbs on counter and kitchen table almost like someone was there and made food and just left as we arrived) Unusable kettle - really filthy. Also had a build up of limescale on most pots and pans so we couldn’t even boil water. Dirty glasses, looks like someone used and never washed they just put back. Rust on locks on back door and front door. A lot of rubbish - bits off old cars and decorations and plastic bottles strewn all over the ground on the way in and at the back of house. Could use a lick of paint on outside. Gate would not open at front. Did not meet host at all, just a couple texts. Perhaps she did not want to disturb us and made it clear she was on WhatsApp if we needed her at all, which was lovely but not being greeted was a bit off putting when you’re renting out someone’s home. ( like what to do with full bins or where everything is and how it’s used ).

Pleasant

Location is grand. Close to the beach and burren. No restaurant or pub in walking distance tho. The view is fantastic

It could do with a good clean and upgrade of furniture and appliances. Everything is old. Beds are to short for a tall man but quite comfortable. For 250€ a night I would expect it a bit cleaner.

The location was fabulous, windswept and beautiful while the cottage was cosy and comforting within easy striking distance of the major sites of The Burren and a plethora of walking routes.

Fixtures and fittings are getting tired and some need replacing especially the frying pan! En-suite toilet is not secured and needs refining. Cleaning could be better ie into corners and under beds. Otherwise clean enough and good range of utensils.

A beautiful location and well equipped. Owner was very friendly.

The directions could be better. A caravan park was used as the reference point. We arrived at night and the park was not visible or signed.

Gorgeous views of the sea

Amazing location close to the beach and with a gorgeous view of the sea. Really cosy accommodation. Kitchen fully stocked with lots of equipment and the beds were extremely comfy!

Prachtig gelegen cottage.

Dit was de tweede keer dat we in de Seaview Cottage verbleven. Het voelde als thuis komen. Voor mensen die van rust, stilte en een prachtig zicht op de Atlantische Oceaan houden, is dit een absolute aanrader. Het is ook een perfecte uitvalsbasis om de Burren en de omgeving van dit gedeelte van Ierland te verkennen.

Wer die Ruhe in der Natur sucht, ist hier richtig.

Die ruhige Lage mit Blick auf das Meer haben am meisten überzeugt. Das Cottage war während des gesamten Aufenthaltes angenehm warm.

Aus den Matratzen spürt man die Federn recht doll. Hier wären neue Matratzen eventuell empfehlenswert.
