We had wonderful stay at Localita Granaio and in the Castellini in Chianti area. The villa was amazing with its history and setting and we loved the beautiful views as we sat on the patio with our wine and cheese. Our host Pietro could not have been better- helpful but not intrusive, informative and friendly. The general area also had so much to offer. We would go back in a minute! Thanks Pietro

When we arrived the owner met us at the appartment and showed us around. His communication with us was great leading upto our arrival. The setting of this place is absolutely amazing. So quiet and beautiful. The views from both sides of the house are wonderful. We played tennis on the court with such an outstanding view. The pool looks great too, but it was out of season for us. Well located to visiting various hill top towns. We also did a wine tour at one of the many wineries in the area which I highly recomend (We did Monsanto, but there are lots of options in the area). The kitchen was very well equiped and everything was in good working order in the house. We cooked here every day. The rooms are large and we were very comfortable for our 5 day stay in April. It's essential you have a car. If you are looking to get away from the bustle of the city and have a relaxing and quiet setting close to midevil towns and wineries, this place is a terrific option.

We were here just in time for olive harvest, Pietro kindly gave us a bottle of fresh olive oil squeezed from the olive harvest from their own backyard, it was the most delicious thing ever. Pietro is the perfect host, providing dining and touring suggestions. The house was fully stocked with paper and cleaning products, oils and spices. Our views from the front and especially back patios we’re amazing. The house is unique and the little village has a cool history. We encountered deer, rabbits and pigs and fed a few feral kittens. We would definitely stay here again.

The pictures don't do justice to the property! It is in a beautiful location that is peaceful and quiet - a great place to relax. The property is well situated for visits to Siena and Florence. Pietro was very helpful and provided information on the area's points of interest and local restaurants. Should we ever return to the region we would definetly return.

We stayed 2 weeks in August, Pietro was a charming, gracious and thoughtful host, responding quickly to emails and making helpful suggestions of places to visit. The apartment is spacious, clean and well equipped, we were grateful for the 2 electric fans in the heat. It is located in a hill top village where there are 25 properties that share the pool and tennis court. We often had the pool to ourselves and the water was the perfect temperature. The views are absolutely stunning, it has an "away from it all" feel. We shopped in the Pam supermarkets which was 20 minutes away and we discovered some great restaurants. It is the ideal location from which to explore Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and many other beautiful towns and villages. It is worth noting that the 3rd bedroom is a mezzanine which is reached by climbing some stairs from the 2nd bedroom and the 3rd bedroom looks over the 2nd bedroom. The WiFi has a good connection but (at the time of writing) there was only 7 gb of data for each week. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this apartment very much

Amazing stay!

This is one of the most beautiful places to stay in all of Italy! The setting is gorgeous in a tiny ancient village now converted to vacation rentals. The views of the Tuscan hills and vineyards are incredible and it was so quiet and peaceful. The unit itself was spacious, clean and rustic but with all the conveniences necessary for travelers. The back patio was private and allowed us to eat outside and sip vino Rosso and watch nighttime settle on the valley. We cooked almost every night in a kitchen well equipped. The location couldn’t be better with three incredible wineries very close by. The closest town Castallina in Chianti is quaint and beautiful. This is the exact region where the real Chianti Classico wine is made. Lastly Pietro was a very gracious host and super nice guy. I highly recommend this place!!!!

We had a lovely visit in Chianti at this property. Lovely, large living room, fully-equipped kitchen, nice bedrooms and a garden with a beautiful view. The location is great for visiting the various towns of Chianti and is only fifteen minutes from the autostrada as well. The host was very helpful, answering our questions about restaurants and shops, and bringing us a fan during the heat wave. Very nice visit.

Pietro made sure we had a relaxing and very enjoyable stay in his cool, peaceful apartment. He went out of his way to be helpful, making sure we had parking outside a restaurant on the night we arrived, and dealing with a swarm of bees that arrived at the apartment while we were there. We enjoyed the patio with its beautiful views across the Tuscan country side and used the pool, although it was early in the season, and the water was still quite cold. The apartment is in a great location, and we visited several small towns nearby, as well as Sienna, and Florence. We were sorry to leave.

...we booked very last minute mid-September, hoping to get the best of the late summer weather in Europe - we had always wanted to explore Tuscany beyond our previous trips to Florence. We exchanged emails prior to booking with the host Pietro, making sure the property had all we needed. Pietro couldn't have been more helpful, all our questions were answered within the hour and our booking made. We booked flights to Pisa and arrived in Italy 2-days later. Within an hour of landing we were in our hire car (essential)... I would say it takes about one and half hours to drive direct to Castellina In Chianti from Pisa Airport, although we had opted to stay a few days near Lucca beforehand. Once we got off the motorway and entered the Chianti Region the landscape was stunning, peaceful with clear blue skies and sunshine which remained at 28-31 degrees for our stay. Expectations can sometimes be let down but safe to say this part of Tuscany exceeded all our expectations - simply stunning. The 'Apartment'... once we had parked up we entered the Medieval Hamlet by foot, the host Pietro was already waiting for our arrival. Pietro was very welcoming and showed us around the property, offering information on local places to eat and visit. For us the property was perfect, clean with all mod cons, with a fantastic view from your own private garden complete with BBQ etc. The grounds were amazing, with a large pool (water was an ideal 24 degrees) and tennis court. We spent most of our time outside or exploring the sites in central Tuscany. Location was perfect, about halfway between Florence and Siena... it took us about 20-30mins to drive to Siena (park in the train station underground car park, 2 Euros for the day with escalators to take you right up to the top - you then have a 20 minute walk but its flat and easy) and most other landmarks are no more than 30-50 minutes drive. If you want to walk to a local restaurant then this place is not for you, you need a car, however if you want to spend time relaxing in the pool or drinking a bottle of wine in the sun... ...we booked for 7-days and for us it was a perfect introduction to Central Tuscany, Pietro was a great host... we have travelled most of Europe and would say Tuscany is way up at the top of the list... the food and scenery are hard to beat ...10/10. When Janet and I read the reviews in advance of our trip to Italy, we hoped the property could live up to the hype. Guess what, it was even better. On a nature reserve high up in the Castellina in Chianti Region with a panoramic vista stretching 60 kilometers overlooking endless fields of grape vines and olive trees, lies the most beautiful centuries old manor, our home for 2 weeks. Our apartment within the complex had all of the modern conveniences including fully equipped kitchen, living room and 3 bedrooms. On the outside with tables and chairs and stone barbecue we always had choice of dining options. We enjoyed cooling down in the beautiful extra large swimming pool after 33 degree days visiting Florence, Siena, San Gimagnano and many towns in Tuscany. The property is ideally situated half way between Florence and Siena which was a benefit for visiting sites. Our host Pietro was very helpful in giving us suggestions on places to see and very attentive in ensuring we enjoyed our stay. For those who rent a car we suggest when visiting Florence take the train. which runs several times a day and takes roughly an hour. In summary the special feature of this property was the atmosphere of complete relaxation following full days visiting and experiences so many amazing places. This is our third visit now to Granaio and we continue to be amazed by its magical enchantment and attraction. As always the house is immaculately clean and looked after, it is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We enjoy the use of the facilities, such as the swimming pool, and the tranquility of the private garden looking out over the fantastic views is just so relaxing. The nearby town of Poggibonsi is one we have grown very fond of and provides excellent amenities close at hand, such as a well-equipped Supermarket (PAM). The owner Pietro is always willing to help and is very accommodating. We will definitely return again next year to this beautiful and enchanted house. What a wonderful holiday, yet again! Following on from our last review (October 2014), we have returned for our second visit to Granaio and still we are amazed by its magical enchantment. Again the house and equipment is immaculately clean. We have enjoyed the use of the swimming pool and the tranquility has allowed us to have relaxing afternoons in the private garden. The nearby town of Poggibonsi provides suitable and sufficient amenities close at hand, i.e, Train Station, Supermarket (PAM), Market days and good Restaurants – It is a small town that we have grown very fond of. Again the owner Pietro was very friendly and accommodating. We were very sad to leave but I’m sure one day we will return again to this beautiful and enchanted house. What a magical, enchanting and amazing place in the beautiful Chianti region of Tuscany. The house is situated on a hilltop in the middle of a private medieval hamlet and is lovely throughout and in excellent condition. The owners have retained its original Tuscan architecture look with its wooden beams and stonework. It’s a very spacious house, spotlessly clean and equiped with everything you could need. It has a lovely private back garden patio with the most beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside, and there is a swimming pool, which has some stunning views overlooking the countryside. There is also access to a Tennis court. The surrounding area is beautiful, outside the front of the house is the lovely hamlet with a view of lovely wine vineyards. The owner, Pietro is very kind, flexible and goes out of his way to be helpful in any way possible. We have stayed at a number of lovely villas/houses over recent years in Italy for our holidays, but this is the best! We shall definitely be returning! Grazie per una bella vacanza Pietro. Wir haben unseren Urlaub sehr genossen: Pietro war in jeder Hinsicht sehr hilfsbereit und großzügig, die Aussicht ist von der Terasse atemberaubend, die Umgebung Natur pur und sehr still. Alle wichtigen Städte der Toskana sind leicht zu erreichen. Wir (Eltern ü.60) hätten uns etwas mehr Licht im Haus gewünscht, das Bad ist sehr klein. Wir haben uns aber einfach rund um wohl gefühlt. Ein kleiner Tipp noch: Das Eis in San Geminiano bitte nicht probieren. Das Eis in Lucca: Pappa Grappa hat das allerbeste Eis, ansonsten den Tipps von Pietro folgend, wir haben sehr gut gegessen.

... kommt man an Granaio nicht vorbei: wunderschön gelegen auf einem Hügel mit Fernblick auf halbem Weg zwischen Florenz und Siena wohnt man in mittelalterlichen Gemäuern, vom Eigentümer Pietro liebe- und geschmackvoll saniert und eingerichtet. Pool mit Aussicht, Tennisplatz mit Aussicht, morgens zwitschern die Vögel und abends leuchten in der Ferne die Lichter von Colle di Val d'Elsa und Monteriggioni. Ganz herzlichen Dank auch an den Hausherren Pietro Vanzi für tolle Betreuung und den leckeren Vinsanto. Wir kommen wieder!

Wij hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad. Het jaar van covid-19, maar toch echt genoten. Het huisje is heel schoon en heeft alles wat je maar wenst voor een ontspannen vakantie. Als je van koken houdt, keukenapparatuur is uitgebreid aanwezig. Wifi werkt fantastisch. De tennisbaan is goed onderhouden en je kunt met een handig sleutelsysteem reserveren. Maar vaak is het zo rustig en kun je gaan wanneer je wilt. Het zwembad is heel schoon, het water heerlijk. Wel moet je gebruik maken van een badmuts en mag er geen opblaasspeelgoed in. De plek is fantastisch gelegen. Dichtbij mooie dorpjes,. Voor onze kinderen (13-16-18) was een Vespa-tour een onvergetelijke ervaring. Gastheer Pietro heel hartelijk bedankt voor je fantastische huis. En alle informatie die je ons hebt gegeven. hartelijke groet, Familie van Ginkel

Wir reisten mit unseren beiden Jungs im Alter von 5 und 8 Jahren in den Herbstferien Anfang Oktober nach Granaio. Die Zufahrt zum Objekt ist spektakulär, der Abzweig meiner Meinung nach aber recht gut zu finden. Pietro hat uns vorab eine detaillierte Wegbeschreibung via Maps gesendet. Freundlicherweise nahm uns Pietro am Haus selbst in Empfang und zeigte uns Haus und Anlage, wo noch mehrere Ferienobjekte stehen. Das Haus ist sehr geräumig und gemütlich, der Blick von der Terrasse grandios. Haus und insbesondere die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Der Pool liegt nur wenige Schritte vom Haus entfernt und ist ebenfalls sehr gepflegt. Einziger Wermutstropfen war die in Italien gesetzlich geregelte Schließung aller öffentlichen Pools nach dem 1. Oktoberwochenende. Diese wurde auch trotz sommerlichen Wetters rigoros umgesetzt. Der Tennisplatz wurde von uns nicht genutzt, sah aber zumindest sehr gut in Schuss aus. Die Lage des Objektes ist schon sehr abseits größerer Ortschaften, dafür allerdings absolut ruhig gelegen. Man ist quasi für jeden Weg auf das Auto angewiesen, größere Wanderungen vom Haus aus werden durch zahlreiche Zäune um die einzelnen Weinberge m. E. nach enorm erschwert. Für kleinere Spaziergänge jedoch ist das Areal sehr schön. Pietro ist ein wirklich netter und kompetenter Vermieter, der uns mit zahlreichen Tips zur Erkundung der Zentraltoskana hilfreich zur Seite gestanden hat. Ihm gilt hier noch einmal besonderer Dank.

Die bereits verfassten Bewertungen habe nicht zu viel versprochen und wir können uns dem nur anschließen: Das Haus ist sehr geräumig und mit allem sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Terrasse bietet eine tolle Aussicht auf die Weite der Toskana. Die Lage ist absolut ruhig und der Pool trotz mehrerer Nutzer nie wirklich voll gewesen. Den Tennisplatz haben wir nicht genutzt. Vom Haus aus sind viele Ziele der Toskana innerhalb einer Stunde gut zu erreichen. Pietro, der Vermieter, ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Vielen Dank für die Tipps für Restaurants und Einkaufsgelegenheiten.

Ein wunderschön in den Hügeln gelegenes Haus mit Terrasse auf beiden Seiten. Pool ist sehr sauber und in einer Minute zu erreichen. Haus ist auch sehr sauber, Küche gut ausgestattet (sogar Spül und Waschmaschine). Betten sind bequem und durch die dicken Wände heizt sich das Haus nicht übermäßig auf. Schöner schattiger Garten. Pietro (Vermieter) immer erreichbar und sehr hilfsbereit. Zusammengefasst: 5 Sterne.
