We had a lovely break in this house in Volnay. Whilst there are no shops in Volnay itself, the location in amongst vineyards is beautiful and it is only about 15min walk to Pommard, where there is a good boulangerie and some nice restaurants. Mersault is also close by and is a great little village with more shops including a small supermarket and a lovely bar 'The Place'. Beaune is also close by for bigger supermarkets as well as being a great town to explore. The house is comfortable with lovely outdoor space. Good wifi, too and a lovely bottle of wine left by Charlotte from their own vineyards, which was a nice treat. We had a great wine tasting experience with Charlotte's mother in law, which was really informative and interesting. There were six of us staying most of the time - mostly adults - and although it can fit 8 people in, I think that would be a bit of a squeeze! However it suited our needs well and we were grateful for the break.

We really enjoyed our stay in Volnay. Charlotte was a very gracious host. She provided us with a bottle of their outstanding wine upon our arrival and during our stay her husband gave us a tour of their wine cellars and we tasted their wines. The accommodations had everything we needed and Volnay is a very nice little village. There are no shops and only two restaurants but Pommard is a short walk away for shops and Beaune is a short drive and has everything you need. We had a great time exploring Burgundy and Volnay was a perfect spot to come back to each night. Highly recommend.

We spent 10 days in the cottage attached to the Domaine Buffett. Charlotte and her family was always on hand to help and gave advise on restaurants and anything else we needed help with! Lovely stay amongst the premier cru vines. Shopped in both Beaune and the Chagny which have all you want. Particularly liked Chagny with some great food shops.

We had a wonderful time in Volnay. The cottage is nice, authentic, comfortable and very clean. Charlotte gave us a warm and attentfull reception. Kitchen is well equipped and functional if you like to cook yourself. We used the Weber BBQ twice and it worked flawlessly. The garden has several places to sit and relax. Whether you like a place in the sun or the shade. Single beds are comfortable. The twin beds mattresses are up for renewal. Bathroom was OK for us but not suitable for more senior guests as the shower is only accessible in the bathtub. All in all a good place to enjoy Burgundy Cotes de Beaune! '

Overall a wonderful visit to Burgundy to celebrate my birthday. House is very comfortable and in the quiet village of Volnay just outside of Beaune. Easy to communicate and check-in & also had a lovely cellar visit/tasting from the family's Domaine.

We really enjoyed our stay at Charlotte's house in Volnay. We are a family of 5 and found the house to be very spacious (there are 4 double bedrooms) and extremely well located, just a few minutes drive from Beaune, Meursault, Saint Romain, etc. You can walk through the vineyards to Pommard and Montelie. It was quite cold when we were there, so I think it would be nice to come back in the spring or summer in order to take advantage of the outdoor seating. We used the house as a base to visit other places in Burgundy. From the house, you can drive to most places of interest in less than 90 minutes. In addition to Beaune and the surroundings, we visitied Semur-en-Auxois, the Abbaye de Fontenay, Autun, Saint Romain and Cluny. If you prefer to stay closer to "home", there are many nice walks you can do nearby (check the website of the Beaune Tourist Office for suggested itineraries). Charlotte is very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely recommend this property.

The house was very comfortable. We enjoyed the garden and surroundings. There were excellent restaurants in the area and we loved the wine tour. We would go back again and would like to stay longer.

Home was very comfortable and beautiful. Appliances and wifi all worked very well (though carrying wet laundry down outside stairs to dryer was a challenge). Kitchen, very well equipped, made meal preparation a pleasure. Off street parking at the property is very difficult, but there is plenty of alternative parking available. Charlotte and her husband are very kind, generous and helpful. His family has owned/maintained the same vineyards since the 1600's, and we savored the Aligote with which they greeted us. I highly recommend this rental in the heart of Burgundy.

We loved the cottage. It is very well-equipped and spacious. Charlotte is an excellent host and Madame Buffet and Marc-Olivier gave us a super tour of the caves. Volnay is a nice little village, if a little limited in restaurants and shops.

We really enjoyed our stay in Volnay. Charlotte is a wonderful host - she even went to the trouble of meeting me at a local pharmacy to help me out when I had a minor emergency (thanks again, Charlotte!) - and is readily available with travel advice for those who request it. We were traveling with two small children and this place is great for kids. There are toys and books in the top floor tv room (which could easily serve as a fourth bedroom if needed - it has a separate door to the hallway). The garden is very nice, and quite private. Volnay is a great location for exploring the area. A bike/walking path runs through the village; Pommard is only a 5-7 minutes or so walk away, and there are restaurants and a bakery there. (Volnay is smaller, with no real shopping - though there are one or two restaurants.) Beaune is a short drive, and it is possible to walk there (or easily bike) - it took us a little over an hour to walk using the bike paths through the vineyards. Very relaxing place!

My wife, my sister and I had a very pleasant stay in this house. The house is a late 1800s home that has been updated and modernized without losing its historical charm. Volnay, the village of approximately 270 citizens where the house is located, is a wonderfully quiet place. It is a truly beautiful historic village set among very old vineyards, some of which are found among the homes in the village itself. The ground floor consists of a modern kitchen which is part of what we now call a great room. There is a very convenient half bath just off the kitchen. The middle floor consists of 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom. The top floor consists of a third bedroom and a second room which could be used for just relaxing or it can be used as a fourth bedroom. It contains a hide-a bed which can act as a sofa or a double size bed. It also contained a television and a small library of books and games for children. The only issue we had with this floor is that the ceiling above the top of the stairs to the floor is very low. Unless you are a small child you always need to watch your head at the top of the stairs. The house was very dark at night because of subdued street lighting. Charlotte, the woman who owns this home along with her husband was as warm a host as we have ever had. She was extremely pleasant and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had a lovely stay in Charlotte's cottage- and even though it was the height of the grape harvest, she patiently answered questions and even offered us a ride to and from the Beaune train station. We did not rent a car and could easily walk the 2k to Pommard or Meursalt on the bike routes through the vineyards, rented bikes by jogging into Beaune (6k) and used them to get around everywhere. This is truly a getaway, the village of Volnay only has a couple of eating options and no stores, so come prepared if you need. The cottage is a great space- all kinds of room (we were just two people and should have brought friends!), we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

In the heart of wine country

The house was in a great location in the heart of the Burgundy wine country and was well maintained. We happened to be there during the grape harvest and the whole town of Volnay and the 40 wineries located there were all busy collecting the grapes, including the owners of the house. Charlotte, the owner was very welcoming, as well as, her mother-in-law who gave us a personal tour of their wine cellar. We took daily bike rides along the bike paths that go to Beaune and also south toward Santaney. Great trip!

Our family of four had the pleasure of staying in Charlotte's lovely gite set amid the vines in the charming village of Volnay. Everything about the home was first rate, including the comfy beds. I think we most enjoyed having our breakfast and dinner each night on the lovely terrace just outside our front door. From there we could hear the doves cooing, the church bell tolling melodiously, and the cicadas and other creatures making their pleasant sounds. It was restful and serene. The location is terrific for exploring wine country, and is within easy distance of Beaune for shopping and dining. We would definitely stay at Charlotte's house again if we have the fortune of returning to Burgandy. She was so friendly and helpful, and speaks lovely English.

Please excuse me writing in English! What a beautiful place to stay. The gite is itself is a handsome building, pleasantly decorated, with everything you need for a self-catering stay. It's quite large, with a charming garden in which to relax, and with a lovely vineyard view from one of the bedrooms! Volnay is a beautiful, tranquil village, and the gite is in the heart of it - perfect for those looking for a quiet retreat in a beautiful region of France, and as a base for wine lovers (as I did with a friend of mine)! Charlotte and her family were very helpful - nothing was too much trouble - and we enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting with Charlotte's husband. Very highly recommended.

The house was beautiful and ideally located in the middle of Volnay close to Beaune in the heart of the Cote d'Or, close to restaurants and wineries. Everything had recently been redone and refurbished while keeping and maintaining the historical character of the building. The kitchen was modern and the television and internet service were excellent. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time and will definitely go back again.

The house is in the middle of the village but still very calm and quiet and has a nice garden. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Nous avons passé le mois de juillet dans la maison de Charlotte et nous en avons été enchantés tous les 4. Notre arrivée a été très bien anticipée par Charlotte qui a très bien su devancer nos besoins (2 jeunes enfants) et s'assurer de notre bonne entrée dans les lieux. La propriété est très agréable, bien meublée et bien équipée, et très sécure pour deux jeunes enfants. Le jardin est magnifique, et l'endroit idéalement situé pour sillonner cette région magnifique et très variée, que cela soit à pied, en voiture ou en vélo.
