About this cottage rental
O Cafexo is a charming 27,000 sq.m. finca on the banks of a beautiful river. The farm has a great botanical richness, fruit trees and forests of oaks and chestnuts. The house overlooks the hills and vineyards and is very quiet. The house has two bedrooms with a spacious kitchen, living room with a fireplace and a large outdoor area with table, chairs, sun beds, hammock and swings. The river is ideal for swimming, rowing, fishing and walking. There is a large space for children with swings, trampoline, table tennis and a private river port. O Cafexo is located 55 km from Santiago de Compostela, 12 km from the beautiful city of Pontevedra, 40 km from the beautiful port of Bayonne and 40 km from fascinating Portugal. The best beaches of the Rias Baixas are half an hour away and the ferry to the Natural Park of the Atlantic Islands is 24 km away. It is the perfect place for a relaxing family holiday in nature and is also not far from the main tourist attractions of the region and Portugal.
Surroundings: O Cafexo is located in the municipality of Sotomayor, Parroquia A Pedreira. The village Arcade, 2 km from the house, has the best oysters of the Ría de Vigo. Nearby: The castle of Sotomayor, with its old garden, and the Alto de la Peneda, with beautiful views over the Ría. There are many bridges over the river: Comboa at 2 km (Middle Ages), the hanging bridge at 1 km, and Pontesanpaio (Middle Ages) in Arcade. The church of San Salvador is a baroque building from the XVIII century. At the mouth of the river in Arcade there are two small beaches. In Puerto Deportivo you can rent boats for water sports.
Beaches: From O Cafexo you can quickly reach the Rías of Vigo, Pontevedra and Arousa. The beaches in these Rías Baixas are very different depending on their position in the ría (at the beginning or end), on the tide, and on orientation (north or south).
Between 10 and 25 minutes we reach Lapamán in the Ría de Pontevedra (20 minutes), or the beaches of the middle end of the Ría de Vigo: quiet, semi-urban and with mild waters like Arcade, Cesantes, Moaña.
_in 30/35 min.: Through the Corredor do Morrazo we reach the more beautiful beaches of Cangas and Bueu (Limés, Agrelo): open sea, fresh, with waves, several with blue flag.
_in 40/45 min.: At the end of Corredor do Morrazo there are semi-wild, wide, open, beautiful beaches, with good waves and cold clear water: Nerga, Barra (nudist), Menduiña, Mourisca, Lagos or Tuia. Continuing towards Via do Salnés: the beaches of Sanxenxo, the great beach of La Lanzada, those of Isla de Arousa, Cambados or Carril.
In 1 hour: the ones from Arousa and Noia, the dunes of Corrubedo.

We had a lovely few days at this property. It's in the most beautiful setting, and we enjoyed our evenings on the terrace surrounded by nature, and being visited by the donkey, cat, and some of the very friendly dogs. The house itself is basic and rural, and is comfortable for a family of four. My youngest daughter and I had a lovely afternoon kayaking down the river, stopping at a river beach for a swim amongst the fishes. Meanwhile, my husband was happy to wander amongst the gardens watching the birds! It's a blissful place to stay, and is within easy distance of the coast, which is worth a trip too.

We will Definitely return!!This place is heaven! Very comfortable, fully equipped and cool house (thick stone walls) in a very large garden with water(falls) and fruit trees everywhere. Magnificent view from the terrace overlooking the garden. The private harbour, boats and river at the end of the road were great as it was quite hot when we stayed. The owners are most welcoming (dogs too! lovely animals even for persons who do not fancy dogs!) and helped us with every question we had with a big smile!

This cottage was everything we wanted and MORE! The property was gorgeous, the host family was so welcoming and helpful, and the cottage itself is equipped with everything you could need to stay a while. So pack less, and relax more. We enjoyed fires on the cool nights, kayaking on the warm afternoons right from the property, and easy day trips throughout the Galicia region. The host family live on a different part of the farm, so the cottage has perfect privacy, but the hosts took care of every question we had. Even the family dogs treated us like long-lost friends and came to see us each day! I highly recommend staying here and experiencing the beauty and peace of a Spanish orchard for yourself. Thank you to the Masso family for sharing it with us!
