What a gem! We enjoyed a splendid week in Virgin at the Rusty House. Steve and Deb have created a unique homestead overlooking a nature preserve along the Virgin River. It was so peaceful and relaxing and in the perfect location for us to explore the area on our road bikes. Zion National Park is easily accessible but we appreciated being away from the touristy areas around Springdale. Rusty House itself is a very comfortable and well-appointed apartment house adjacent to the owner’s home. We prepared many meals in the full kitchen and also slept very well on a very comfortable mattress in the upstairs bedroom. It was very convenient to have a washer and dryer in the house too so we didn’t need to bring too many cycling kits for our vacation. In addition to Zion, there were many fun places in the area to explore including Snow Canyon State Park in Ivins, Cedar City (home to an annual summer Shakespeare festival) and also the start of a breathtaking 17 mile climb, downtown (old) La Verkin and St. George. Steve was extremely helpful and responsive to our needs and is an absolutely charming, first-rate host. Henry, Deb and Steve’s sweet, gentle dog, is available to “borrow” for walks down to the little Falls Park along the Virgin River. He is just as charming as our hosts. We highly recommend the Rusty House for your stays in the Zion National Park vicinity. Absolutely fabulous!
