Casale Fontanino lies at the bottom of the hills that from the Medieval hamlet of Montecarlo go down towards the plain of Lucca. Montecarlo is a delightful little village full of shops, taverns and wine bars where it is worthwhile to stop and have a taste of Tuscan cuisine or of the “Rosso” from the hills of Lucca. For lovers of history there are various options, the Renaissance city of Lucca with its walls, Altopascio along the ancient Via Francigena. However, a special visit to the town of Collodi and villa Garzoni with its park dedicated to the puppet Pinocchio is a must. Cities such as Florence and Pisa are easily reached by train from Altopascio. This is a country house typical of the Tuscan countryside with walls in stone and bricks and wooden beams. It is surrounded by large olive groves from which olive oil is made and without which nothing is cooked. A large and well-cared-for lawn surrounds the house with garden furniture and a gazebo. The swimming pool (17x5, 1.1-1.7m deep)(01/05-30/09) has a Jacuzzi area and multi-coloured lights rendering the nights particularly fascinating. The house can easily host groups of friends or large families with children who can play and run here. The accommodation has central heating, air conditioning and wi-fi Internet connection. It is possible to request a maid, a chef, a baby-sitter, cookery courses.
