We were part of 2 families staying at the house, 10 people in total. There was plenty of room for us all to spread out and not feel that we were on top of each other. It’s an old house which meant lots of uneven steps to and from the garden, this wasn’t an issue for us but worth bearing in mind if traveling with young children. The location is fantastic for trips into both the old and new town and so many places to visit less than an hours drive away. Pierre responded quickly to any questions we had and made us feel extremely welcome. We had a very memorable holiday!

This is a gorgeous very old house in a perfect location in Vaison-la-Romaine - just above the bridge to the main market street, just below the medieval town, easy to walk everything and very peaceful and quiet. Vaison is a WONDERFUL place to visit and a great base for exploring Provence. Our host, Pierre, sent a detailed email when we booked the place, of things to do in and around Vaison- very helpful. He stopped by 3 days into our stay with wine for us! Very kind. The grounds are beautiful but seriously in need of trimming and maintenance. We did take most of our meals outside, at the table provided, as our weather was perfect. The house has no air conditioning, which we didn’t need, but just be aware. Unfortunately previous tenant(s) had put away cookware and dishes poorly washed (like visibly dirty) so we felt we had to wash everything before using. ( Everything's else in the house was very clean.) There also were no essential supplies in the kitchen (like paper towels, trash and composting bags, foil, etc.) so we had to buy all those items right away. The bedrooms are very comfortable, with wonderful linens; bathrooms/showers great, (there are only 2 toilets, both upstairs). The house is old with many steps in odd places, so care is needed and not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. All in all we loved the place, and would love to return sometime!

All six of us - two 17 year olds and 4 adults - couldn't get over how lovely the house and its grounds were. We felt transported to a different world, lounging around the pool and terraces. So much space in the house to relax too - loved the moroccan lounge, and loved the fact that it was obviously a well loved family home, not just an impersonal rental house. Such a boon to have a lively town and the medieval village on our doorstep. Many thanks too to Pierre for being so kind in picking up two of us at the bus stop, and being so helpful with local information.

After a small amount of confusion we managed to get in after a very long journey. The Pool and eating area are the focal point and we had breakfast, lunch and dinner outside and spent many hours by the pool. Weather was perfect. Both bathrooms are well equipped and the kitchen worked perfectly, Leading straight out to the eating area. Living room is nice and cool to relax and read even at 30 degrees plus outside. For location its perfect, Vaison is a large town with loads of bars restaraunts and loads of other shops, The market on Tuesdays was full of delicious but expensive food. You can walk to town in less than ten minutes, You have the old city above you and chateaus within 30 mins. If you love wine you are right in the middle of it and it is extremely cheap. Our experience of the farmhouse and property was a memorable one because it gave us a rearview look back in time. The comfortable terrace was a pleasant place to gather and rest after our busy days exploring the town. The large clean house afforded sufficient comfort and security to us and best of all was its proximity to a marvellous treasure- Vaison-la-Romaine.

Wonderful holiday for 3 generations

We were a family of 6 adults plus 3 small children and we had a blissfully happy 2 weeks in this gorgeous part of France. The house is perfectly situated at the foot of the mediaeval town - mere minutes away on foot to this historic treasure, and a few minutes more to cross the roman bridge into the bustling town and impressive roman ruins. The house was easy to find, with good secure parking for our 3 cars, and a massive park/garden to roam about in. Set in a vey quiet street, the farmhouse has 5 spacious double bedrooms, all with comfy beds, and a rather quirky arrangement of public spaces which worked fine for us. We spent almost all of our non-sleeping hours at the house living outside, eating on the big patio [table will easily seat 10] and relaxing down by the fabulous pool. It was just wonderful to have such a lovely pool as the centre-piece of our holiday, and it can be secured to stop small people accessing it without an adult. heated only by the sun it was perfect for those 30 degree plus summer days. The caretaker cleaned it each Saturday and was on call for problems - but he has no english. There are quite a number of concrete steps outside which toddlers would struggle with, but older children will have a blast and we will certainly come back when our 3 [maybe 4 by then?] are a bit bigger and use the garden much more. Trampoline, ping-pong table and playhouse are great assets for a family holiday. The only slight downside was that the house could have been a lot cleaner and some of the lights didn't work but overall we heartily recommend this holiday house. Although we didn't meet Pierre he was charming online, and very helpful and quick to respond to queries.

If you want a bog standard holiday villa this is not for you, but if you want a beautiful old property packed with character and quirkiness, a pool straight out of "Call me by your name" and acres of fairytale gardens it surely is. The location would be hard to beat; short walks take you to a charming medieval village in one direction, in the other an attractive small town with all the shops and facilities you could need and the largest Roman town open to the public in France. The only drawback is that there are a lot of steps in the garden so it would not suit young children. The house is well equipped and we (parents, 4 adult children plus partners had a wonderful, relaxing time

Beautiful place

Beautiful place

We stayed for a week in late Spring and enjoyed the gardens in their full glory. The setting is amazing and the property is well located with a very short stroll into town. The house is perfectly comfortable and clean. Any issues or questions we had were dealt with swiftly by the owner (who was very helpful in suggesting activities or providing information on the area). We had two babies under the age of 18 months with us and the place is well set up for kids. I'd recommend it and there is every chance we return there for another week.

Das Haus ist sehr schön gelegen und bietet viel Platz. Wir sind als 2 Familien mit je drei Kindern angereist und hatten eine wunderbare Woche, auch dank des schönen, großen Gartens und dem Pool. Phillipe ist sehr unkompliziert und freundlich. Wir würden jederzeit wieder nach Vaison gehen!

La maison est parfaitement située pour tout faire à distance de marche. Il est très spacieux et dispose d'un immense jardin, mais il faut faire attention à cause des nombreuses pentes et escaliers. Il y a aussi une belle salle de bain rénovée. Certaines choses dans la maison ont besoin d'être rafraîchies. Il y avait quelques défauts mineurs dans la maison. La piscine n'était pas fonctionnelle pour nous à cause de la température. L'eau n'est pas devenue plus chaude que 21 degrés. Peut-être aussi ajouter quelques grands parasols à la terrasse qui fait face au sud. La communication avec le sympathique propriétaire s'est bien déroulée

La propriété est idéalement située : proche du centre-ville et des commerces, elle est pourtant située dans une zone très calme où vous ne serez pas embêté. Un séjour dans une grande maison bien typique et charmante, et d'un immense jardin, extrêmement bien située où le cœur de Vaison se fait directement à pied. L'accueil fut parfait. La piscine en pierre a un charme indéniable. Nous conseillons sans hésiter. S'il fallait apporter quelques critiques constructives, je parlerais peut-être du manque de débit d'eau pour les douches et le manque d'entretien du jardin où les herbes étaient bien hautes. le mas est idéalement situé entre la ville médiévale et la ville romaine. Tout se fait à pieds. La maison est propre, super équipée il ne manque rien. Les lits sont faits, le linge sent bon, c'est un régal. Parlons, du jardin ou plutôt du parc. La végétation est reine, il y a plein de coins et petits recoins. Source, bassin, ruisseau, grenouilles. Piscine magnifique on dirait un bassin naturel (en plus du vrai bassin avec des grenouilles). Il y a des fauteuils, transats, bains de soleil un peu partout et là où il faut.Pareil pour les tables. Nous avons pu utiliser le trampoline, la balançoire, la table de ping pong et la piscine (pour les plus courageux). Tout était complet et en bon état. Passons au jardin où en cherchant bien je suis sûre qu'on y trouve des lutins... En tout cas nous y avons organisé des parties de cache cache géantes que nous n'oublierons pas de sitôt. Chacun a fait preuve d'ingéniosité pour trouver des cachettes improbables. Bref on a trouvé ce qu'on était venu chercher. Les enfants qui ont grandi dans ce domaine ont dû avoir une jolie enfance. Enfin, merci pour l'accueil simple, décontracté et chaleureux à l'image du reste.

Le gîte est très bien situé , proche du centre de Vaison la Romaine , ce qui permet les sorties à pied. La maison est spacieuse , les pièces du rez de chaussée ne sont pas toujours fonctionnelles , par exemple la salle à manger se trouve loin de la cuisine. Il manque un wc au rez de chaussée. Les chambres sont confortables. Le gîte est très bien équipé , mais un effort de propreté devrait être fait.

Le descriptif a tenu toutes ses promesses: grande et belle maison de caractère. Le salon "marocain" fut particulièrement apprécié: toujours bien frais, et possédant une lumière particulière: notre petit fils âgé de 6 semaines y a trouvé un apaisement total, et les adultes y ont fait de belles siestes. Chambres et sdb très agréables à l'étage. Grand parking sur le devant, super pratique. Piscine à l'ancienne, agréable. Nombreux arbres fruitiers sur la propriété: figuiers, sureaux, poiriers, pêchers, pommiers: des fruits à portée de main tous les jours. Et quelle situation géniale par rapport à la Cité Médiévale, et même tout le reste de Vaison. Un hommage particulier à la boulangerie de la place Montfort, à côté du Comptoir des Voconces (recommandé aussi). L'Ouvèze était plus haute que lors de notre visite précédente en 2015: un vrai plaisir que d'aller nager dans les petites baignoires naturelles.

We stayed for a week with 6 people in this house and we had a very good time. The house is very large (we didn’t use all the rooms) and the terrace and garden/park are amazing. The garden has everything you want with small kids (pool, trampoline, a fairy tale house and a swing). The house is just around the corner from the medieval city and a 10m walk to the main square. The only negative point I can think of is that the kitchen could have been a bit cleaner when we arrived. I would wholehartedly recommend this house!

Cela doit faire la 4° ou 5° année que nous réservons la maison entre amis (3 couples avec enfants) Nous voyons au fil des années la volonté de Mr Meffre d’entretenir sa jolie maison à travers des travaux d’embellissement intérieur, qui sont très appréciables (là, deux chambres, le palier et le salon) L’accueil et la disponibilité du propriétaire sont toujours au rdv et c’est avec grand plaisir que nous y retournerons.

Het huis is ruim. Vijf 2-persoons slaapkamers (eentje zelfs met twee 2-persoonsbedden). Ruime keuken met alle voorzieningen. Alles schoon. Prachtige tuin, eigenlijk meer een park, met mooi, natuurlijk ogend zwembad (meter of 8 bij 4) en tafeltennistafel. Door de tuin lopen kleine riviertjes waardoor het nog rustieker lijkt. Groot terras met mooie tegels. Grote tafel, zowel in de keuken als op het terras waar je zeker met 12 man aan kunt eten. Wij hebben de barbecue van achter uit de tuin naar het terras gehaald. De eigenaar, Pierre, vond dit prima. Aardige man. Het huis ligt onderaan het middeleeuwse gedeelte van Vaison. De Romaanse brug en het centrum is zo'n 10 minuten lopen. Veel restaurants vlak bij. Uitstekende uitvalsbasis om te fietsen.
