For two families having 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms the house was a solid base for a comfortable and cosy vacation in the lovely region of Occitanie. The house is very private and the town shop sells fantastic bread. Our highest recommendations.

We had a fantastic stay with our family of 4. The house was great, comfy beds, great showers and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The pool was wonderful, we took an inflatable ring and some lilos and spent hours around the pool, everyone loved it. Enjoyed eating under the shade outside. The house was perfect and we don’t have any complaints. We enjoyed regular trips to Uzes, the markets on Wed & and Sat were wonderful. We followed advice and went in very early to secure a parking spot, we were having breakfast with locals at 8.30 am. We found the underground multi-storey car park handy for parking. We enjoyed day trips to Avignon and Nimes, loved the amphithéâtre there and walking down the cobbled streets. We hiked up behind the house to the look out point, beautiful hike through the pine forest, we were out hiking at 7.30 am to avoid the heat. We enjoyed finding the geocache in the village and at the look out point! We cycled from the house past the vineyards to the neighbouring village to the tiny boulangerie, selling a variety of breads and cakes, we also enjoyed cycling through the tracks behind the village but the main road is just too busy to cycle into Uzes, especially with kids. I don’t think I would make the effort to take the bikes if we went again as no cycle paths into Uzes. The village shop was handy for pre-ordering croissants and pain au chocolat and local figs and fruit. All in all a beautiful area and we would def return to the house!

A beautiful historic home. It has all the amenities we needed, and is in a peaceful location, but very close to a main road into Uzès
We stayed for about a week over Easter 2023, so it wasn't warm enough to use the pool or garden, but they both looked fine.

Like last year we went to lˋancienne mairie and spent some wonderful three weeks. The house gives you everything to either relax or explore the beautiful provence.
Highly recommended.

We spent three weeks at L‘ancienne Marie and really loved it. The house and of course the landscape around it are simply a gift. We are more than happy to come back next year for another three weeks.
Thanks a lot Sarah and Marco for this wonderful place.

We had a wonderful stay in the house which is ideal for two families. We would echo the positive comments made by other reviewers. Particular highlights were the pool, outside dining and its location in a quiet village near Uzes, while the interior of the house is impeccable. Recommended.

We had a fantastic week. The house is lovely and worked brilliantly for two families of four. We used the pool daily and enjoyed several day trips. The little shop in the hamlet was great for ordering bread and croissants. There really wasn’t anything that could have been better for us.

Great place in a perfect location
Great place in a perfect location
The property itself was fabulous with big spacious rooms and high ceilings. The decor was simplistic and in-keeping with the rustic nature of the property. Because it was all stone floors and walls and beamed ceilings it kept the place relatively cool in the hot summer climate which was very welcome. Furnishings were of good taste and it pretty much had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and the fans in the bedrooms were a welcome addition to keep things cooler at night. The pool was well maintained being cleaned twice a week but because of the surrounding trees and shrubbery we had to do a little cleaning ourselves after stong winds.
The location was perfect, away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger town, that being Uzes but within easy reach for evening meals dining out and the Market days on Saturday and Wednesday. The Saturday market was huge and well worth a visit as is just strolling around the cobbled streets, nooks and crannies. I would also recommend the Chateau at Usez and of course any or all of the surrounding wineries for tasting or picnic/tour. The little villages near by were also wonderful so I would highly recommend you taking time out to visit some of them.
The Grottes de Salamander were pretty spectacular and if you are brave enough then i would recommend the 50m abseil into the cavern below. I always say a trip to france is not complete without a canoe down a river so take a trip to the famous Pont Du Gard and take a canoe down the river and under the viaduct.
All in all we had an amazing time and the property was a big plus in achieving that.
Thanks to the owners and Emma in helping us have such a fabulous vacation.

The pool was wonderful for our two grandsons, 5 & 6. We had all our meals on the covered patio. Four roomy bedrooms, great bathrooms and a large, well equipped kitchen. Sitting room enormous, though little used! The boys loved walking to the small, but well stocked shop in the village for their croissants and pain au chocolate each morning.
A delightful stay for 8 of us.

My family and I enjoyed a most relaxing week in what can only be described as one of the most beautiful regions of France in the most delightful house.
Our host and contact was helpful and on hand to help with questions. The house itself was simply charming, the photographs do not do it justice; lovely kitchen which was well stocked and lovely modern bathrooms. The pool area was especially lovely.
The area itself was very quiet and pretty with beautiful Uzes a 10 minute drive away. The house was also well located for drives to Nimes and St Remy and other wonderful sites. I would highly recommend this house and hope to return again.

Just returned from a week at L'Ancienne Mairie with 3 children aged 2, 7 and 17. Was absolutely perfect for everyone. The house is beautiful - more so than the pictures convey. The pool is big enough to swim and have fun and our 7 year old's confidence improved dramatically during the week. Location is spot on and ideal for nipping into Uzes and also as a base for Avignon etc. The numerous local wine caves are well worth a visit and we appear to have returned home with a year's supply... The arrangements themselves couldn't have been easier. Marco was exceptionally helpful and responsive to any queries ahead of the trip and Emma ( based locally) was really friendly and generous in her assistance during the stay. Just a great holiday and we will certainly be returning. Thank you.

Beautiful house in a wonderful location
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday staying in this fantastic property. The house is very spacious with each room tastefully decorated with everything you need to enjoy your stay. We loved the original features of the house, the impressive hallway, staircase and living room give a luxury feel yo the house as well as the cosy bedrooms and super en suits and bathroom with fantastic showers!!
The pool area is a delight! We had plans to do much for exploring than we actually did as it was too tempting to relax and enjoy the house and pool which gets the majority of sun throughout the day. The gardens are also very lovely and we enjoyed sitting at the front of the property as much as the back.
We were a party of four with two toddlers and the house and location were perfect for us. We really enjoyed exploring Uzes which had a great market on Saturday. Marco was extremely helpful ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay and Emma (house manager) who was very friendly was on hand to help us if we needed anything whilst away.
It really is a special place to stay and we hope to go back!!
Thank you for our stay

Erholsamer Sommerurlaub in toller Umgebung

The Old Marie is a really attractive property which makes it a pleasure to spend two weeks in. It's as nice as all the other reviews say it is. There's lots to do and many interesting places to visit - Pont Du Gard, beautiful Uzes to name just two. We had a lovely holiday.

A lovely family friendly house
A lovely family friendly house
We love the area around Uzes. The Old Mairie is a well designed family-friendly house that enjoys beautiful views at the rear over the surrounding countryside. The living room in particular boasts huge ceilings and a lovely wood burner that we made good use of (early April was still a bit chilly at night). The pool is very family friendly, sadly it was freezing as the sun hadn't yet warmed it up enough (a cover would help this). The bedrooms are well designed and cosy. All in all a great location for exploring the area and especially good if you have younger kids..

Excellent Overall
Excellent Overall
Brilliantly efficient, quick and helpful responses throughout the entire process with the owner and a very speedy return of the deposit. I arrived on a cold Boxing Day to a beautifully-prepared, warm(!) and perfectly presented house.
The house is so well setup for letting that you feel as if it is your own home whilst there and I really didn't want to leave - brilliant! Was a real joy to celebrate New Year with friends in such a charming, spacious, well-equipped, clean and comfortable house. (WIFI, a laundry room with a washing machine, a great-sized kitchen, large salon, comfy beds, lovely bedrooms, great showers)
Overall, no need for me to consider renting anywhere else when I am next in the region - it's fab.

Beautiful historic house
Beautiful historic house
Am so sorry to be leaving this beautiful house - everyone's fantasy of a traditional French country retreat. Beautiful inside and out, wonderfully spacious and perfectly restored.
Uzes and the surrounding area also couldn't be more charming - everyone is so friendly and welcoming. One of the local people I've chatted to told me that autumn here is her favourite and I couldn't imagine a better place to visit in September.

Beautiful restored French house
Beautiful restored French house
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Old Mairie. The house has been sympathetically restored so it is full of charm and character yet it is comfortable with modern facilities. Although the house looks beautiful in the pictures it is even better 'in the flesh'.
The kids loved the pool, which is both gated and alarmed - so very safe. The adults enjoyed the outside space where we relaxed in the evening with a glass of the local wine.
Emma and Andrew (who welcomed us to the house) were very helpful and friendly during our stay.
The great thing about the house is it's location. There are lots of things to do and see close by. The house is a few kilometres from Uzes - a beautiful old town full of bustle and atmosphere, beside a valley with cool shaded walks. Behind the house is a forest walk up to the monument on the hill, where there are amazing views. We canoed along the Gard river to the Pont du Gard - brilliant fun. La Roque-sur-Ceze, one of Frances 'most beautiful villages' is close by alongside the Sautadet waterfalls.
I would definitely recommend this beautiful house to anyone and hope to visit again.

Fabulous holiday in this wonderful house
Fabulous holiday in this wonderful house
I first saw this house in 2013 and thought it beautiful and a wonderful place to stay. And now having stayed there I can confirm that it lived up to expectations.
We got a great welcome from Emma who looks after the house. It was spacious, clean and comfortable accommodation for 8. Good size bedrooms, enough bathrooms, good pool and plenty of outdoor space.
The teenagers loved the wifi, TV and huge sitting room to hang out in for evenings. Also plenty to do for everyone - kayaking under Pont du Gard, bull run, Avignon, Ciel de Nimes and the night market and great restaurants in nearby St Siffret and St Maximin.
Great holiday had by all - we would love to go back.

A stunning house in a great location. Six of us have just spent a wonderful week relaxing in this lovely property. Spacious, full of character, beautiful restored features and very high airy ceilings. It exceeded my expectations. Something for everyone - the kids spent hours in the pool (deep enough for diving into) and safe enough for young children as it has shallow steps to get in and out. My 4 year old just splashed around in this part of the pool the whole holiday. There is a safety gate and barrier plus pool alarm. There is a sun terrace for sunbathing with lots of comfy sun loungers to enjoy reading in the cool shade. If it gets too hot there is a huge lounge with a tv and more importantly for teenagers, wifi! A big dining table for outdoor eating plus a well-equipped kitchen and a barbecue. The village itself borders Provence 45 minutes from Avignon and Uzes is only a short drive away. Would recommend kayaking down the Gardon from Collias to the Pont du Gard and hiring bikes from St Quentin la Poterie. There are loads of velo tout terrain tracks.
