About this apartment rental

Summary:

The Sires Suite is a blend of historic charm and modern luxury featuring two queen bedrooms, one bath, private kitchen and laundry in which were thoughtfully renovated in The Charlestonian. This suite provides a private stay and entrance, complimentary parking, a private porch and patio, just steps away from the city’s most celebrated shopping and dining.

The Space:

The Sires Suite summons the essence of a truly refined Antebellum Charleston experience, through truly paired with every modern convenience. The kitchen is a timeless centerpiece, featuring a timeless La Cornue gas oven and cooktop from Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, complemented by a whisper-quiet, American-made Vent-A-Hood. Guests are invited to celebrate Old World culinary traditions using top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and glassware. Custom cabinetry, the kitchen island, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations.

Entertainment is seemlessly modern with a Samsung 4k Smart television, offering complimentary access to Xfinity cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu.

Each bedroom is designed for rest, offering sound machines and smart charging stations, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s.

The bathroom is a masterful blend of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the house was built by shipwrights. Salvaged standing-seam tin from the original front porch roof forms a striking backsplash behind the hand-hammered, nickel-plated vessel sink. Period-inspired water closets sourced from Kent, England complete the Old World aesthetic.

Outdoors, guests can embrace the Charleston tradition: relaxing on the porch and enjoying the coastal breeze. Rocking chairs overlook Cannon Street, while a private rear porch and patio offer additional space to unwind, complete with a lounge sofa and Acorn barbecue grill.

Guest Access:

Private entrance and access, complimentary parking, private outdoor porches.

The Neighborhood:

The Cannonborough neighborhood is an inviting downtown area that blends classic architecture with a modern lifestyle. From here, it's easy walking distance to historic locations such as King Street and a selection of delicious restaurants, cafes, and bakeries.

Getting Around:

There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are very common and will not be delayed. Street parking and parking garages are available and relatively easy to access.

Other Things to Note:

We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat.

If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.

This rental achieves that rare balance of uniqueness and practicality. The apartment has a comfortable living room, well-equipped kitchen (all-clad pans if you want to do some serious cooking), and the best feature, IMO: a beautiful porch.Beds are comfy. The other big plus is the neighborhood—busy enough to provide great coffee, bagels, and dining options within blocks. But not so busy that you can’t get a good night’s sleep.

This property was amazing! I chose it mostly for the beautiful kitchen but the location was a great coincidence (only a few blocks from King Street). We planned on cooking a feast during our stay there and the pictures showed a very well equipped kitchen and a charcoal grill. However we did have some issues with the gas stove (had some difficulty getting the flame to turn on again after we turned it off) and the grill's lighter was out of fluid and there was no scrubber to clean it before we started using it. Thankfully we were able to pivot our grilling food to the kitchen! Otherwise the stay was great and the owners were very quick to respond to any questions we had! Would definitely stay here again!

My friend and I loved this rental. Our only issues were the bathroom storage/counter space. The sink is in the hallway, which isn't a big deal

It is a beautiful apartment, very well thought out. The location is close to city attractions but not extremely close (a 25 to 26-minute walk). We preferred parking at Cumberland Garage and visiting the city attractions. We had a very good time; however, we did encounter a few issues. The parking behind Ladles has only three proper spaces compared to, I believe, four buildings. When we arrived at 10 PM on the first night, we managed to squeeze a spot at the end behind another car and had to take out the next day early morning, but from the next day onwards, we didn't have any parking issues. However, I'm not sure if anyone else faced problems because of the parking situation. Our Wi-Fi wasn't working when we arrived and after sending a text, we received a reply the next day in the afternoon with the Wi-Fi password. The bathrooms are quite dark in terms of decor, and the shower light was not functioning. I sent a text regarding this issue but did not receive a response at all. Additionally, one of the beds was slanting, which caused my children to have difficulty getting a night of proper sleep.
