The location is lovely and conveniently situated to the old town. The studio apartment is pleasantly decorated and practical for an overnight stay, with a private bathroom and a spacious room with a kitchenette, closet, locker, spacious bed, small table, and a TV.
Several things made this stay less than ideal. First and foremost, I booked the apartment based on the information provided in the listing, especially the offer of "FREE PARKING."
The reality is that you can park on the street for free, but only if you find a spot in a crowded neighborhood where free parking is not guaranteed.
Had I known this, I would have booked elsewhere as I was traveling by car and had no desire to struggle to find parking nor pay an additional fee for it, which is why I booked an apartment with "free parking."
What is worse than being misled is that the host made no apology for the situation; she simply stated that there is no private parking for the apartment, and, because my booking was non-refundable, I could do nothing except accept the situation or find another place to stay and lose the money I had already spent for the booking.
Ironically, the host's attitude was echoed by the message written on the cutting board in the kitchen, which says something like, "You have two choices, take it or leave it."
Right.
Aside from that, I realized I had stayed at the same property in another unit with my family some time ago. And, just like the last visit, I discovered that there were tiny ants in the kitchen, who appeared about 10 seconds after I started preparing a snack. As a result, I felt "antsy" the whole night through.
In addition to this yucky feeling, there were no extra blankets in the apartment so I was chilly the whole night, and the window is jammed on its hinge, so I couldn't open the shutters, leaving the room pitch black. I prefer to sleep with natural light.
Finally, I must also note that the bathroom needs some attention. The shower rim is rotten, the door stopper is full of dust and mold, and the bathroom supplies are scarce.
The overall feeling is one of disappointment. It's a pity because the place has potential.
